Hi all,
I've searched the forum for a possible answer, but no luck so hoping you can help.
My 2001 Mk4 1.8T (AUM) has developed this thing where the nearside indicator light remains on (not flashing) when I lock the car using the key fob. It even did it when I unlocked it the other day and only went after I locked/unlocked a few times. My wife got caught out with a flat battery because of this too. I've checked the bulbs and they're all fine, and it seems intermittant but getting more frequent - any ideas?
Regards

Check fuses mate.. and i would double check all the bulbs as its normally down to a blow bulb
-
Thanks mate, I will, but if the fuse(s) have blown, wouldnt the locking/indicators not work? I did check the bulbs and all seem ok (went through the MOT ok last Friday too). Only started doing it in the last few weeks - have to check it each time I lock it!

sticky relay?
indicators ever get stuck on when using turn signals?
-
Hmmm... haven't thought about the relay's, but they work fine in normal operation (i.e. dont ever get stuck on). I did think about possible water ingress in the light cluster too but had a look and all seems fine in there. Plus it probably wouldnt lead to all three nearside indicators being on (by the way the indicator stalk is central when it happens - I know about the parking light but this is the indicators here).

When one my sidelights went my indicators were going crazy  best to just rule out fuses too tho takes 2 mins to check ..normaly yh they should not work at all when fuse is gone but you never know its a mk4 :wink:

Cheers - I'll do that. I must admit, I did have some LED sidelights in previously and when they started playing up I put back the original (yellow!) standard bulbs - not sure if this had/has something to do with it. They both work fine but seems a coincidence that this issue has only really been happening around the time I swapped the bulbs over. Surely the sidelights wouldnt affect the locking!
