Title: Making Audi TT centre caps my own!
Post by: MarcIV on 23 February 2014, 11:58
Hi,
Fist things first I had a new clutch kit fitted to my golf and obviously I had to take off the front wheels and as I can to put on the centre caps one was missing so I got rid of the other 3 I had and made some money for a set of 4 which I decided to make them my own.
Here's a few pictures to tell the story.

First these are in naff condition.

Here's a picture of my beaut.

After taking them apart & sanding all the lacquer off to rough them up a little.

After 30minutes of solid sanding I gave them a quick rinse off and started with the base coat/grey primar
On which I do apologise as I never took photos of this part!

So after 3/4 coats and I got stuck in with the top coats! :nerd:

This is Audi Quartz Grey
I wanted to try get same colour as is was before and this is the colour my girlfriend found

Now as for the Audi rings I should have bought red primar for best results but I never thought at the time

As for the Aluminium outer trim all I did was respray lacquer straight onto bare metal, at this point I had no idea what was going to happen(as to the looks) but I was fairly happy with the results!

Then I sprayed about 3 coats of lacquer on all 3 pieces, put them back together and added another 2 coats of lacquer for good luck and this is what I got!
