I have oil leaking out of a black cylindrical thing on drivers side just behind bumper have only just noticed it why is it leaking oil how do I stop it car drives fine.
-
photo'd help...
as for how to fix it... take off, replace perished seals...
-
Sounds like power steering fluid to me leaking from the pump area, hose probably.
-
It's to the left of power steering pump and there is a grey brown oil underneath air filter box and leaking on floor below driver lower bumper grill it's not red fluid and smells like dirty oil.
-
Sounds like the carbon canister to me.
-
Why is it leaking lots of oil all over it.
-
Need pics im now starting to think breather
-
I try my best it's coming from a black circle thin with a small oval exit at the bottom facing out wards on the drivers side of the car to the left of the fog light you can also see this thing from the top just in front of air filter it's covered in oil.
-
Thats the carbon canister.
-
How do I fix this problem or remove the whole thing if possible.
-
I binned mine and all of the associated crap attached to it. Its only there to meet some bullsh!t emission regulations and more than likely useless now anyway.
-
Load pics so we can make sure. I dont know why you got oil sludge in it. Sounds like its pouring in.
-
Yeh but unlike my engine oil it's all dirty and thick it is the canister thing with the two pipes on the top of it no where els mechanical has any oil on it.
-
Yes but its for fuel gasses and returns to the tank so something dont seem right.
-
Oil in engine been changed but that's been in there fr years building up. Just clean it out.
My thoughts anyway. Binned all this on mine (in a mk2)
