Today I hit a brick in my V5, the brick went under the car and put a hole in my fuel tank  may have done more damage... insurance reckon it's probably going to be a write off, anyone else needed to replace a fuel tank before? anyone know if a write off is realistic?
Cheers for any replies

Just buy it back cheap and get a fuel tank from a scrap yard off a golf. I had a lorry roll into the side of my vectra ,the tinyest dent by the door handle and it was a write off  that was 6 years ago and the cars still flys through mot. Its a joke, i sold it to a guy next door as i hated the car, it was a magnet for people to crash into. 6 odd times .It always got fixed under the insurance.

My wife wrote off our GTi reversing out of the garage according to the insurance company. It creased the front wing and bent the edge of the bumper as she caught it on the woodwork. It was considered too expensive a repair on a 16 year old car and so I was shocked with the news that they wanted to scrap it. Every time I go to the garage for service etc, someone offers to buy the car as it is a good one.
Instead, I paid £320 to have the car repaired at a local company. Got to keep "Herman" on the road!!

Mine was close to being written off with a scrape and dent down both passenger doors and a dented sill...
