Just had my GTI confirmed for build week 12 - w/c Sunday 16 March 2014.
Excited doesn't cover it and it's still well over a month away from being mine!
-
I'm BW12 too
-
Is that on the VW tracker? Mine isn't showing a BW on the VW tracker but the dealer has said it's BW12.
-
Mine changed to BW12 confirmed today (The original estimated BW from the dealer was BW13)
Estimate for delivery is mid April I think
-
Mine's the same as you pjr, updated today!
-
Mine confirmed today too!
-
Me too! Can't quite believe it as I placed the order precisely 2 weeks ago. I'd hoped delivery would be a bit sooner than the 20 weeks I was quoted but this is amazing. Feel very fortunate.
-
I have heard a rumour that production on the R's has been slowed down because of this whole issue with the interior, meaning that R's with leather and GTI's have had production dates pushed forward. Not sure how true as didn't think they were made in the same factory. It does seem to correspond with the production time of GTI's having been shorter recently.
I was originally quoted BW 19 with late May delivery when I put the order in.
-
BW12 here too! Been waiting for what seems like an aaaage!! (ordered mid Oct.)
-
We are on Week 11 people. One more week left until ours are built!
-
Counting down the days mate, I can't wait!
-
Had a call from my salesman yesterday, who confirmed my GTI was still on course for being built next week, with delivery estimated in the first couple of weeks of April.
-
Just had an SMS update and confirmation on the website, my car has been built early and is at 'stage 5a in transit: left factory'!! It went straight from stage 3 to 5. I only ordered it on 7th Feb. Incredible. So I should really be posting on the BW 11 thread now... Hopefully a few more people will be receiving the same good news.
-
Great news mate! I might ask my leasing company for an update...
-
I've just looked at the tracker and it is still saying stage three with build commencing 16th March. I believe delivery week will be 22nd April?

If your BW is w/c 16th March, I would have thought you would have your car delivered by w/c 7th April?

It does seen I miscalculated slightly!
-
Depends on the boats too, fingers crossed we've missed the March rush to get new cars in showrooms so it should be the first couple of weeks of April if things aren't so busy on the boats coming over from Emden
-
Got a text update this morning to say that my GTI was at stage 5a - in transit. So has been built already (BW11) despite me not getting a tracker update to say that it was in the build phase.
Early April delivery now looking likely
-
You're a lucky man pjr - I think you must have been squeezed in this week's build rather than next week. I'm waiting with anticipation for alerts from the VW tracker now!
-
I am very happy for the two that have been pushed forward, but I am furiously jealous :)

-
order update: Your Golf order has progressed to stage 5b of 7 (in transit: shipping). (Sorry Jimmy Filth...yours will be worth the wait)
-
Was dropping off some paperwork at the dealers today, and was told there was a slight chance my car might be here before the end of the month! (Sorry Jimmy )
Apparently the order for my car was accepted in mid September, with it being amended to my spec on the 8th Feb.
Mid September to end of March is 6 1/2 months!
-
Woohoo just got confirmation from leasing company my car has already been built and now just waiting for it to be delivered to dealer!
-
Mine is still showing BW confirmed :(
Can't complain though, my original BW was 19 and only ordered about 5 weeks ago! :)

Yeah that's not so bad - not like some of us waiting 6+ months! Can't wait to see an R in Limestone Grey!
-
Neither can I. My one. Parked outside my house! Hahaha.
Here's a pic of one with the Pret's, same as I have ordered.

Wow, that's amazing. Definitely the right wheels :) If only I was doing less miles....one can dream lol.
Okay, so I assume, reading from previous build weeks, it should take on average 3 weeks from build to delivery?
-
I was told average is 3 weeks once build completed, but the wait for the boat can affect this either way.
-

I see. Now to find out which boat it will be on! lol.
-
Mine is still showing BW confirmed :(
Same here Jimmy!
-
Mine is STILL showing BW confirmed. This is killing me. Haha
-
I've reached stage 5a - left the factory with 4 weeks quoted. It skipped straight from BW confirmed to built & left the factory yesterday morning. I'm hoping it will be shipped over on the boat Emden which is docked currently...

Good news - mine missed out the build part as well!
I got a 5b text this morning, and I've taken a guess that my car is on the Schelde Highway which left Emden last night and is due in Grimsby this evening.
-
Mine is currently in build. Just spoken to dealer and apparently they have freed up a ton if GTI build spaces so they've jumped forward while us R owners have to sit around and wait.
I guess they knew you lot would need a head start :) :) :)
-
P.s. I may be a little bitter :)
-
Just got a text notifying that it has left the factory and is on stage 5a.
I believe it's three weeks from now ? A week to get the boat, a weeks crossing and then a week to get to dealer and prepped for delivery?
-
Great news. Dealer told me could be up to 2 weeks waiting for shipping but I got 5b text 2 days after 5a. Hope u the same.
-

I wouldn't have thought it would be on the boat for a week? Would have thought it would take like, 2-3 days max. to get from Emden port to Grimsby?
-
I've been told that it takes less than 24 hours to get from Emden to UK port, but it seems that my dealer likes to under promise and over deliver. Better for him to say it takes a week and it turns up much earlier than visa versa.
I believe my car will be going to Southampton?
-
Probably for the best then eh.
I don't know where my car is going in regards to port. Don't even know which dealer it is! Lease company are organising delivery for me.
I even asked am I not able to collect from whichever dealer, but they said no sorry, as it is coming directly from the VW compound and not a dealer as such...
-

The boats seem to take less than 24 hours from Emden to either Sheerness or Grimsby. African Highway left Emden last night and is due in Grimsby around 5pm, and the Schelde Highway left the day before and arrived in Grimsby this morning.
Don't know which of these my car might be on, and I'm too lazy to contact my dealer.
-
Just got an update from MarineTraffic - the boat 'Emden' is bound for Sheerness, it's as we speak still docked but should take 24hrs or so as mentioned by pjr and Jimmy.
I got the 5b text this morning, seems like they update at 8:45 AM as I got my 5a text exactly two days earlier. As I'm down south, I'm expecting my car to be on Emden arriving at Sheerness tomorrow with any luck!
-
I have just been told that if you ask your dealer for a screen dump of the order it states which dock it will go to. Mine states Sheerness. It seems a lot of you are getting te 5b text about two days after te 5a, which is Saturday for me, so if it is similar I guess my car will be on a boat on Monday and in the country Tuesday.
Have to wait to see how that pans out.
-
Evening, I was a build week 9 GTD so hopefully my breakdown of the timescales I went through over the last few weeks will a be of a helping hand. My car is due to be delivered on the 28th of March. (it was ready on the 18th but the car is coming from JCB Medway to Scotland )
I didn’t start tracking until stage 4
Ordered 7th November 2013
4) Build week 9, build commences 23/02/14
5a) Car complete and has left the factory 28/02/14
5b) At dock side compound Emden port 02/03/14
5c) Car on boat 11/03/14
6) Car offloaded and sitting in Sherness port compound 13/03/14
7) Car is at dealers and ready for collection 18/03/14
Looks like in total it was 23 days from build start to being ready for collection.
Hopefully this breakdown is helpful to someone.
-
That is helpful, thanks for that! So it looks as though the 10th will be when it is ready!
-
Thanks for the breakdown.
Same place mine is coming from.
Are you having it delivered or are you going down to collect it?
-
Not a problem, I know how stressful the BW to delivery wait is. (Like a kid at christmas )
The VW and boat tracker were a nightmare, i was looking at them every 10 minutes
I thought posting a break down of my experience and time scale may give you guys a better estimate of when to expect your cars.
JCB are delivering it to me, other wise i would have been at the front door of their showroom at 6am on Tuesday lol
-
This may sound like a stupid question, but I genuinely don't know. Do they loads ships and such at the weekend? I appreciate a shop at sea would still sale, but not sure if ports wind down to a skeleton staff.
-

It certainly looks like both ports and the boat work though the weekend, judged on my time watching the maritime tracker.
I agree with the skeleton staff theory, cant see it making a great difference though as the process of unloading the cars and moving them to the compounds until the dealer is notified, has to happen to allow the port to continually process its workload.
I think this will certainly be more prevalent in Sheerness as it seems to be a rather small port so will require the berth space.
-
Ok, so potentially (if it gets on a boat quickly) my car could be here by Monday (As in, in the country).
Then the long frustrating wait for it to get from sheerness to the dealer in Portsmouth...
How are all the other BW12ers doing?? Any news on your cars arriving in the country??
-
My car took 10 days to get from Sheerness to Pompey. Hope your wait isnt as long. When I was picking up my car this week they had two Rs ready to go out. One in blue and one in black. Must say the black looked very nice.
-
Well the boat 'Emden' has docked at Sheerness, a few hours later than planned but it had to cross the channel traffic judging by the maps. This should be the boat that southern BW12 orders are on with any lucky - just got to see what happens. Based on previous tracker updates, there will be an update at 08:45 tomorrow morning telling us it's arrived in the UK.
-
JakeF, maybe you can tell me if I'm being an idiot here, but had a look at timings...
My car left the factory first thing yesterday morning. It should arrive at Emden tomorrow morning. At 02:00hrs tomorrow morning the Schelde Highway arrives at Emden. I know that shop is used by VW, but considering the time it arrives, it is a possibility that my car could be on that ship and potentially leave tomorrow evening?
If they do load and ship on a Saturday evening of course.
-
I spoke to a friend of mine who used to work for a shipping company, who gave me a bit of insight into the kind of operations involved here.
In essence, time is money and space is money, so they won't be keeping your car at a port at either end for any longer than they can help. All being well, that would mean your car will be loaded onto the next available ship. However based on delivery to Chelmsford, the Schelde Highway isn't the likely boat because that's only been doing round trips between Emden and Grimsby, and Grimsby isn't used for anything in the south from what I've read. The next paragraph assumes VW would rather your car be delivered to the correct part of the UK - if they really want your car out of Emden port then your car would be on the Schelde Highway.
You'd be needing the next boat to Sheerness in Kent, which is smaller than Emden so there's even more motivation to get the cars shifted at the other end. This means you're looking at either the African Highway which is on it's way back to Emden from Grimsby at the moment, or the boat Emden which is docked at Sheerness. As Emden has been doing round trips between Emden and Sheerness lately, I'd predict your car would be shipped on Emden once it returns to Emden port (which would be late tomorrow or early Sunday I'd guess).
From what I've been told, the ports themselves will be 24x7 but it's the logistics companies that process cars delivered to the ports and transport the cars onwards to dealerships that tend to be more Monday-Friday operations.
When did you get the 5a alert then? I got mine on Tuesday morning at 8:45, and got the 5b alert exactly 48 hours later, while Emden the ship was still docked at Emden the port (slightly confusing) - it would seem for the shipping phase that things get updated in batches rather than in real time.
I'm not going to pretend I understand the nuances of VW's logistics but I'd say on the whole VW want to get the car to you ASAP because the sooner you take delivery, the sooner the money comes in for them for the car they've already spent many thousands of pounds lovingly manufacturing for you. Fingers crossed for you that it's on its way to you soon!
-
Thanks for that, really helpful!
So , let's hope that my car stays true to form and I get a text this morning saying I'm on 5b.
African Highway docked at silly o'clock this morning, so could leave late this afternoon. Let's hope that a) it is going to Sheerness and b) my car is on it! Emden has gone to Spain.
-
Just got the 5b text, at 08:44 this morning. Exactly 48 hours after the 5a. As stated above, the African Highway is currently in port, so still got my fingers crossed for this ship!
-
Since I've had my 5b notification Schelde Highway and EMS highway have left for Grimaby and African Highway has just left for Sheerness. Hopefully that'll be the last of the BW12 cars. Fingers crossed!
-
Great news Jimmy! Oh so close now..
-
I'm sitting tight waiting for notification that my car has arrived in the UK - which in theory it did on Friday! So close...
-
The closer it gets the harder it is to wait! Haha.
I'm expecting a 10 day weight between arrival in UK and dealer, then maybe a week between that and the car getting to me...
-
I got the 5b text on Wednesday morning, but still no 5c text despite several boats coming into Grimbsy last week, and over the weekend - so still no idea whether my car has got to the UK or not.
Although, given the reliability of the tracker (mine missed out the build phase) there's a chance it is actually here.
Much as I'd like the car here now, I still need the DVLA to sort out my registration transfer, and it would be simpler if the car & paperwork all arrived at the same time.
-
It seems not many are getting a 5c notification. I'd expect yours to be somewhere between port and dealer right now.
-
It seems not many are getting a 5c notification. I'd expect yours to be somewhere between port and dealer right now.
Here's hoping...
The salesman did suggest to me that there was a chance it would be here before the end of the month. Desperately need to do some miles in my Audi though, as I stupidly filled up just before I got the 1 week early notification that my car had been built - I've only used 100 miles and I normally get 500 to a tank
-
Just spoke to VW who have said that my car is showing still at Emden, but when the tracker shows 'in transit:shipping' to give them a call and they can tell me what ship it is on. Now, I got that notification Saturday morning, so I'm really hoping that their system hasn't caught up over the weekend.
-
Just spoken to my dealer, and my GTI is at Emden waiting on a boat - Still expected to arrive in the UK this month, but probably early April before I can take delivery.
-
Just had the stage 5c shipping text - near the UK. I suspect this actually means 'been put on a boat' as the journey from Emden to Grimsby takes < 24 hours as noted previously.
-
Good stuff pjr. So should be in the country by tomorrow, then with you probably a week after that I should think??
-
Good stuff pjr. So should be in the country by tomorrow, then with you probably a week after that I should think??
I'm thinking I'll probably be able to get it the weekend of 5th/6th April, which suits me fine - it's still much earlier than the original planned delivery date
-
Sounds like a plan! Hope the rest of our cars are on that ship too! I've given myself until week commencing 7th April, so I'll be happy if I receive it by then.
-
And on that note, I have just had confirmation from the leasing company the car will be delivered to me on the 3rd April :) happy days. I've been given my reg. number to get it insured.
-
They have also confirmed it is going to be delivered on a trailer and not driven to me as originally stated. Happy with that :)
-
Sounds like I'm the last BW12! Haha.
Confirmed my car is still at Emden awaiting a boat. Annoyingly about 6 boats have done the Emden to Grimsby boat since my car arrived at the port and none have gone to Sheerness. Dealer has said it will probably be at the dealer end of next week.
Glad you guys have got the 5c notifications.
-
Don't you worry, saving the greatest (R) till last ;)
-
I was genuinely starting to worry I'd ordered a lesser car than the GTI, but I'm now really looking forward to it since the comparison reviews have started coming out.
-
VW's twitter team confirmed my car is still at Emden apparently, so don't worry Jimmy it's not just you! I was gutted to find my car isn't in the UK yet as patience is really not my strong point.
-
Schelde Highway and Neckar Highway are both on their way to Grimsby. Still no boats to Sheerness...
-
African Highway had just docked and does the Sheerness run. Would be nice if they could do an overnight turn around and have any of our cars on the way to Sheerness by the time we wake up on the morrow.
No other ships known to be used by VW are anywhere near!
Also, my dealer confirmed that they have an agreement with the transport company that cars will be delivered to dealer from port within 7 days...
-
If that's Peter Cooper in Portsmouth, then they broke that agreement with me.
-
What stage is your car at?
-
I picked it up last week. They told me that they have a 5 day turn around for delivery but in the end it took 10. Fair play to them that thy sorted the PDI out in a day, as I had waited for so long for delivery.
-
So the plot thickens - my dealership rang me today and apparently my car has been in the UK since 19/03 and they're promising an update tomorrow on when it will be delivered to the dealership (they say this is taking longer owing to the March rush) and then I've agreed to have my PDI delayed so that it's not rushed into the final week of the month for registration before April.
-
Blimey, that's somewhat embarrassing on the part of VW.
-
Yeah it all seems a bit odd to me Jimmy! I'm not really complaining but I would rather have the right information where possible.
-
Absolutely. ALS, with the amount of vehicles they ship it is inevitable there will be one or two errors, but still frustrating all the same.
-
Each day another story - it appears someone can't understand the VW order system and my car definitely is still in Germany - bit gutted after being told yesterday it's in the UK...
-
This is all getting rather silly now. Have you spoken to VW UK directly?
I'm vexxed that there have been 8 ships to Grimsby this week and only one to sheerness and Tyne! Kind of pales in comparison.
-
I've tweeted at VW a few times and what they've said has been right so far, but they are referring me back to the dealer each time I ask for specifics. Sadly the specifics (which boat, firm ETA) are either unavailable to my dealership or they don't want to tell me (suspect the former).
I'm thinking of giving it until Wednesday next week - as I was advised by my dealership that there is definitely a boat scheduled from Emden to Sheerness for then - and if the tracker doesn't update I will be giving VW a call to chase them because it will have been built for several weeks during which multiple Sheerness-bound boats have departed from Emden.
Of course once it arrives and is ready for me to collect all this waiting and frustration will just melt away!
-
Next wednesday! That's ridiculous! I've been watching and they have boats heading to Grimsby about two every other day, sometimes more. Can you not insist they get it to Grimsby and then to the dealer from there?
-
Volkswagen order update: Your Golf order has progressed to stage 6 of 7 (arrived in UK). Happy days!
-
I just got this text too.
-
You guys are making me very jealous now - I got my 5a & 5b texts before you guys but sadly appear to have been left out of the recent ships
-
I'm a little concerned because I can't see a ship that has gone from Emden to Sheerness in the last 24 hours...
-
Cancel that. Viking Constanza got into port at 0830hrs yesterday morning.
-
Grrr, spoke to VW CS on the phone and my car was delivered late to Emden port so it missed the boat it was scheduled for so it will be on the next boat out of Emden to Sheerness hopefully, meaning it will be on the next sailing of the Viking Constanza.
-
It's about to dock at Emden, but there are about four ships currently in Emden that VW are known to use and do the Emden to UK run.
-
You guys are making me very jealous now - I got my 5a & 5b texts before you guys but sadly appear to have been left out of the recent ships
feeling super jealous too! I keep looking at the forum and for "jimmy filth's" updates.. lol
glad your got your texts. Iv been told my car was at Emden too but it would be on the ships next week
heres to hoping for a mid april pickup!
-
I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for you guys! I'm so frustratingly close, but feels like an eternity until I get it!
-

Think I'm in (quite literally) the same boat as you manish - fingers crossed for some 5c/6 updates early next week
-
I got the stage 6 text this morning, so my car is currently in Grimbsy or on its way north. It might tie in quite nicely with the paperwork I've got back from the DVLA for my private plate which is now on retention and I already have the replacement V5 with the random age related number my Audi will get.
Just waiting on the replacement tax disc and then I have 7 days to change the plates over on my Audi, so with any luck my GTI will be at the dealer during the same window and I can just pick it up rather than swapping my plates over and then picking the GTI up a few days later.
-
That would be nice as you need a bit of luck now!
I've been advised that it's 7 days port to dealer on average, so let's keep fingers crossed it isn't too much longer for any of us.
-
JakeF, the Viking Constanza arrives at sheerness 0030hrs on Sunday, apparently
-
Cheers Jimmy, fingers crossed my car might be on that!
-
I've got mine crossed for you!
-
Viking Constanza arrived this morning JakeF, still got my fingers crossed for you. Saying that, don't think the tracker updates over a weekend and it's a bit slow so if yours did arrive you'll probably receive the text on Tuesday! Haha.
My wait for it to arrive at dealer is killing me!!! Haha.
-
I must admit I was checking marinetraffic.com when I woke up, now I just need to see if the tracker updates on Monday!
-
If you don't get the text it may be worth ringing the dealer, they're more up to date. They were able to tell me which boat my car was on and what time it arrived. They're not 100% up to date as they told me my car hadn't yet been unloaded but the boat was already en route back to Emden.
Well, I at least hope they were wrong there! Haha.
-
African Highway appears to also be en-route to Sheerness as we speak, I'm really hoping for a tracker update tomorrow!
Just need to fix a date to sell my current car (wewantanycar.com are offering nearly 20% more than part ex) to fund the PCP deposit now...
-
this past week has been like waiting for a reply from your first crush.. will she reply.... or not... I got my 5a text on the 22nd and no updates since... lol.
you get the drift...
im sure she's sitting in Emden thinking the same,
hold on tight guys..
(me and a few barcardi's letting out our emotions.. hahah)
-
I imagine (and hope, for your sales) that there will be a flood of texts going out this morning updating people from cars being moved this weekend.
-
Mine's on its way to the dealers, with collection arranged for Saturday morning.
Also means I don't need to swap the private plate off my Audi as I'm within the seven day grace period
Hopefully everyone else has had or will soon receive similar positive news.
-
Ah I'm very very jealous pjr! Cue kid at Christmas time on Saturday
I'm still on stage 5b on the VW tracker and the dealer's system is also still not showing a boat yet but I'm hoping it's either on the boat that docked at Sheerness earlier today or the Viking Constanza which has just set off for Sheerness. Patience is definitely not my strongest skill!
-
I got my 6 text on te same day as you so may ring the dealer tomorrow!
-

Im in the same position as you JakeF, no updates as of yet. and yep, the patience is certainly wearing thin..
JimmyFilth got my hopes up over the weekend saying there should be a flood of texts on Monday morning! but I didn't get mine!
-
I said I hoped there would be! :)
Their system is a little slow, so I' really keeping my fingers crossed for you guys.
-
whoop whoop!!
Tracker weren't working earlier this morning and no texts.
Just (as you do) kept trying and car is showing as arrived in the UK!
stage 6 complete. However, no texts or emails yet.
but who cares.
7-10 days and i'l be one very happy guy!
-
You're ahead of me manish - I've moved to 5c this morning
-
and sod's law.. I just got the text too!
-
Congrats guys!
-
Just spoke to my dealer, he said early next week as they don't normally transport on weekends. When I explained I've actually got a weekend off for once he said he'll make the phone call and ask if they can. Paperwork has gone off to sort out a registration and car is due to arrive at dealers in the next few days.
-
Congrats guys!
I tell you what, knowing it's in the final stages has definitely cheered me up - I can feel the excitement building!
-
JakeF, Jimmy, Manish - good to hear that your deliveries are moving ahead. I'm sure the wait will be worth it
I got the stage 7 text this morning, and separate email confirmation that my car was due to be delivered to the dealers today - everything else seems to be in place for mine - insurance, number plate etc., so Saturday can't come quick enough
-
We'll have to start a BW12 club at shows! Haha.
-
Stage 6 text this morning, call from my dealership booking me in to handover next Thursday
-
That is awesome!
-

congrats to all bw12!
PJR - 8 days and counting!

oh yeh.. oops it is 3 days for you! congrats and that's a nice touch by the dealer! looks super mean... like "move out the way! or i'll eat ya!"
-
Good stuff guys! Getting closer each day!
1 more sleep for me! Being delivered to my work - so excited!!!!
-
Nice one. Are you the first 12er to take delivery?
-
Not sure? Possibly!
Will post pics up tomorrow!
-
Hope you're enjoying your car! No notification that the car is at the dealers so looks like I'll take delivery next week.

yep, must be busy enjoying and admiring the new love of his life.
no news yet either for me, same boat as you jimmy!
-
I couldn't take it any more and made a phonecall today. Confirmed for delivery at dealers tomorrow. Best case scenario is the car arrives first thug and is ODI'd same day, then delivery before Monday.
More realistically it'll get ODI'd next week and I'll take delivery while I'm at work!

I can't take it too!
im just being to polite, don't want to sound desperate (but actually I am )
The last time I called my dealership my guy weren't in, and I called VW direct... they were kind, but they did ask if I had checked the online tracker! I said, "I did, but wanted a more accurate update.. " she smirked.. like she knew.
This wait is killing me!
-
Took delivery at 3pm, finished work at 4:30pm, picked Mrs up, and just got back home now :D
No issues with handover, everything as it should be apart from the car being covered in dust from this sand storm!! He did say it was clean when the trailer left the dealer. So I made sure I wrote on the paperwork that any cosmetic inspection could not be completed as the car was dirty on the outside.
Other than that, loving it!!!

that's so cool bro!
I can only imagine your excitement!
few days.. few days.. (just got to keep saying that. ) ur ride looks awesome!
-
Haha yeah not too long to go now! Quite looking forward to seeing your CC. Although it's isn't normally the type of car I would go for, I have always had a bit of a soft spot for em!
-
Look amazing Mohsin, I'll be joining you in the Night Blue GTD club "soon"
Interesting variety of vehicles being delivered by that trailer!
-
Night blue is an awesome colour. I kinda wish I'd gone for that over LSG...
-
ffrank - Thanks! You will love it. Yeah I said the same thing to the driver. The two nicest ones were the 335d you can see in the pic and hanging over the front at the top was a really nice E350 cdi coupe.
Jimmy - It is actually brilliant. I was getting worried before I received it, thinking if it would be nice because I never seen one in the flesh, but when I saw it first time yesterday, I was relieved. LSG was my other choice, and tbh, I think I would have been just as happy with that!
-
That blue does look lovely.... Tell the lorry driver to get his grubby hands off the door frame!!!!! lol
-
Hahaha he wasn't the cleanest
I can't wait to give it a wash and wax this weekend!!
-
This is killing me! I know the car is supposed to be at the dealers today, but not heard anything!!!
-
I love the LSG too Jimmy, I was going to go for that at one point but my wife was not so keen - she prefers darker colours.
Good luck with the rest of your arrivals bw12'ers!
-
Just got a pleasing e-mail. Confirmed delivery at some point I'm around next week. Was starting to wish I'd ordered midnight blue, but the salesman said it was getting a lot of attention so back pleased with LSG.

Popped into Peter Cooper Portsmouth to pick up some rubber mats this evening and saw this car in the flesh as I parked a couple of bays down from it. You'll be very pleased with your colour choice, it looked fantastic in the evening sun light.
-
Looks great Jimmy, looking forward to some photos next week once you've collected and enjoyed it a bit first!
-
I'm breathing a sigh of relief.... I've ordered a LSG GTI (BW17) and was starting to think id ordered the wrong colour until I saw these pics.... Phew!
-
I am so excited to get it! Not long now...
-
Me too - tomorrow morning can't come soon enough. Thankfully this week has flown past as I've been quite busy at work.

Andy said it was getting a bit of attention when it was being unloaded. Just spent longer than I should staring at the pictures! Haha.
-

so happy for you.. man some dealers are pretty awesome... you got pics sent (or did you go yourself?) and someone here had a video sent too!
-
That was the dealer taking some pics for me!
I cannot suggest Joe at AFS and Andy at Peter Cooper, Portsmouth enough.
-
My gti's arrived at the dealer, just need to arrange the collection date. Still can't believe it's less than 2 months since ordering it, so much for the 16-20 week scare story! If you're weighing up a new build vs stock car don't be put off by the estimated build time as gtis are generally coming through much sooner.
-
On the other side of that I have had my GTI order in more than 8 weeks and the tracker still hasn't given me a confirmed BW so at least 6 weeks away I'd imagine.
-
I think it does come down to dealer allocations a bit too sadly scoobyc - I'm going to be collecting mine exactly 11 weeks after ordering, and that's despite the car having to be re-ordered two weeks after I ordered it because the dealership sent through the order as a manual instead of DSG. So in reality I'm looking at 9 weeks, which is quite impressive. Fingers crossed for you buddy
-
Ah. Sorry to hear that, hope it comes through for you soon. Did you order direct with a dealer or thru lease company? Mine was direct with dealer , via drive the deal introduction, don't know if that affects the delivery time. I expected to wait a lot longer as imagined dtd dealer get lots of orders so might have used up their allocation.
-
Straight through the dealer, their estimate was build week 19 with pickup estimated at 4 weeks after that but having heard all the good news on here I chased them to see if my one had come in but...
-
Picked mine up this morning - loving it

I'm not normally a fan of red cars, but it really suits the 7.
-
Andy just called and said he's gone to check the car over and found a ding in a front wing that is a bit too big to polish out. Little bit annoying, but these things happen. Has said he 'll get it to the body shop without it being driven , then full it up with She'll Vpower before delivery, which should still be this week.
-
This is killing me. Car went to the body shop on Monday afternoon and I'm waiting to hear when it will be delivered. Really hoped it would be today!
How is everyone else getting on?
-
What a nightmare Jimmy. Although it's good your dealer spotted and sorted it rather than you found it on pickup!
It will all be worth it - hoping you will be in it before the weekend and partaking in a limited burst of Rev's in Race mode :D
-
Fingers crossed for you Jimmy - I'm collecting tomorrow at 11am
I've got Dan of Carbon Autos booked in to do a full protection detail on Friday too, so hopefully on Saturday I'll have some photos to share of yet another Carbon Grey GTI!
-
Just got an update from the dealer. Car should be back from the body shop either tomorrow or Friday morning. It then needs to have the PDI sorted. Should be with me by Friday or Saturday. This is getting to be actually painful waiting for it!
-
finally got my 7 of 7 text and email this morning! had a call from the dealer yesterday which I missed and when I called back today, and its his day off
anyways here's hoping for a Saturday pickup too!
-
I'm infiltrating from the BW15 club looking for info!
How did you guys get all your shopping information, like the ship name etc?
-
Educated (or uneducated) guesses. Once you've got your 5c the dealer can also tell you the name of the boat
-
Right, how many BW12ers are we waiting for now guys?
-
Mine is getting delivered either omorrow or Saturday (unless something else goes wrong...)
-
So guys, I'm sad to say things did not go well today.
Finance all sorted, sales chap goes to get the keys and move it from the compound out front for me, notices the nav isn't as ordered. Turns out the monkey that turns the order on their CRM into an order on the VW factory system copied down the extras wrong!
I've rejected the vehicle, awaiting confirmation of a new order and being leant a brand new diesel Jetta to tide me over until my replacement car arrives (probably going to be BW22/23 at this rate).
Took a photo of my car sat on the forecourt and they let me have a look over it anyway, got to say it really is gorgeous. I was pleased to sit in it to validate my colour & leather choices, as well as giving the Dynaudio a good listen to.
Good things come to those who wait...

-
I think I'd be crying about now I I was you Jake...
-
That seems like very poor customer service on vw's behalf
-
I think it's the dealer at fault so it's not really VW who have messed up. I'm just hoping I can secure a sensible build week with the spec I originally wanted plus hopefully a freebie or two to keep me happy. They were all amazed how calm I was actually, I think they were expecting me to kick off or something - not my style I'm pleased to say...
-
awwh man.. that sucks! can they not retrofit a upgraded version of the CMS nav ?
and would they have not picked this up on the PDI?
-
They said the retrofit of Discover Pro into a CMS-equipped car isn't easy owing to the car's computer system, something to do with it wiping itself everytime it's plugged in for diagnostics.
Reason it wasn't picked up on the PDI is that the order system used to check the car matches the order looks at the factory order placed, not the order in their CRM, meaning the PDI guys see it as being correct because of where the mistake was made. Frustrating but it's clear they're not covering up, just a genuine mistake in a very critical part of the order process!
-
being leant a brand new diesel Jetta to tide me over until my replacement car arrives (probably going to be BW22/23 at this rate).
erm... they should be loaning you the GTI until your new one comes in
-
Yeah I asked but the sales manager said he'd rather offer me this - if it means I get leverage to get some FoC additional extras, I'm game.
-
Blimey Jake, that's terrible! Was it only the sat nav or were there other things aswell??
I only ask as my dealer told me they can retorofit sat nav at the dealers. Would it be worth pushing for this and a massive discount to save the wait of a new car?
-
They said that there's an issue with retrofitting the nav where it wouldn't behave properly long term with the car's computer - and to be honest I'm the kind of guy that prefers 'factory fresh' so I'm happy to wait - I get two-three months without paying car finance and I'm going to get some FoC extras, so it's not like there isn't an upside. I'm remaining relaxed about it, as much as I want the car, because I'd rather get it perfect second time than bodge the first attempt. Or at least that's how I see it
-
Fair play. You're a more patient man than I! Haha.
-
Really sorry to hear that, hopefully they'll pull out all the stops to get your replacement.
-
My car left Portsmouth about half hour ago. Souls be here within a few hours.
-
Saw a Limestone R driving along the Eastern Rd in Portsmouth at around 13:45. Plate ended in LTX I think. Is that yours?
-
Driving or on the back of a transporter?
-
Driving, had two guys sat in it.
-
Sounds like it may have been mine. I know they took it to a garage to fill it up before it left Portsmouth.
-
It's amazing. I'll get some pics up in the sun tomorrow.
-
Really pleased for you Jimmy! I saw a Golf R at the dealership on Thursday and they really are stunning in person. Enjoy
-
Well Knights of Columbus that was fun. Turns out the R is really quite fast and I wasn't even pushing it!
The Adaptive Cruise Control is pretty damn good and the DCC is amazing. Huge difference between modes.
We have got a lot of fun ahead of us with these cars.
JakeF, keep us posted mate, I'm really interested in the progress with yours.

hahaha.. congrats mate.. I now have Thursday pickup 10am! can't wait.
enjoy and we all are looking forward to the pictures trmw!
-
Good stuff, all starting to happen. My date is 11am Tuesday. After the various horror stories re. dealer prep I've asked a detailer local to the dealer to clean/valet the car for me. Bit of a gamble as I've not had any detailing done before.... fingers crossed.
-
So I met today with the (very apologetic) sales manager at the dealership, everyone there seems to be quite embarrassed and quite appreciative I've been so calm about it all. Surprised even myself I must say!
They're sorting out some FoC extras for me and three years free servicing, to make up for the hassle of having to wait for a new car to be ordered and having to drive a diesel Jetta (S level trim) until my GTI arrives. Overall I'm pretty happy, as I'd already managed to secure over five percent off list so I feel like for a dealership I'm not doing too badly price-wise, and frankly being patient and sticking with them gives me a stronger position for leverage longer term!
They're going to explore stealing a GTI that's already in the system but not been confirmed yet, but the chances are apparently quite slim. Sadly it means I'm going to be joining BW23/24
At least as the sales manager put it, I've been through this process before so I know how the timings work, etc. - I think he was pleased to have the chance to put it right rather than having to explain to his managers why he'd had to give a customer their deposit back!
-
Mate, push for an R at the same price you're getting the GTI :)
Got some more pics today. Was a lot of fun at elemental, although mine was a flying visit. Also, the pics are taken on my iphone and uploaded through tapatalk so can't promise anything on the pic quality front...(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/12/ubaqadyr.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/12/u3y6eve5.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/12/2arebydu.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/12/y9uqapu9.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/12/tuguputu.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/12/y9ynyhu5.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/12/ryhune2e.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/12/aguresaz.jpg)

Looks stunning Jimmy
I'm pondering changing from carbon to limestone grey now...
I sat in the R the dealership had on show, definitely a nice place to be. As I'm under 25 the insurance on a Golf R would be even more eye-watering than it already is for me, will definitely be pushing for a test drive at some point though!
-
Thats very, very nice, I was convinced it would be Lapis I would choose but I think I favor that now
-
Looks great, Jimmy
-
There were so many Lapiz on order I decided against it.
Jake, I'm 30 and paying £300 fully comp. because it has ACC as standard it was only £40 more than my diesel passat estate.
-

Some R forum members in early 20s and got pleasant surprise re insurance. Owing to numerous safety features on MK7, the insurance is lower than most expect.
-
Ah you guys are doing a lot better than me - 24 year old single male in south east London means even the GTI without PP is close to £800 fully comp., after EUI Group the next cheapest was c.£2000!
-
Jimmy - looks stunning, looks like a supercar in hatchback form in limestone and those wheels.
-
Amazing Jimmy, made up for you. Bet you have forgotten about the wait now :)
-
Done 500 miles in it in the 48 hours I've had it so far. Hands down the best car I've ever owned. Been getting a lot of positive comments on it whenever it has been parked up.
Thanks a lot for the comments on here guys, I'm chuffed!
Oh, and ffrank at 300bhp and a sub 5 second 0-62 it is a super at :) haaha
-
Fantastic to hear Jimmy! Hope the rest of you BW12-ers are enjoying your cars as much as Jimmy is...
I've finally got my new order confirmed, to what I'm categorically promised is the correct specification! Based on timings from the first time round, I'm taking a guess at BW22 for this one - at least I've gone through the process (very) recently so I know what to expect when now! :undecided:
