Title: Anyone make any sense of this?
Post by: Wazzzer on 20 February 2014, 20:40
My mate is looking to buy a 1.8T thats been advertised on Piston heads and has just got this message

Just spoke to my mechanic this morning cos a epc fault code came up on dash. Its the electronic pedal control which controls the throttle. It need's hooking up to the ecu conquer to remove fault code so it will start. My mechanic said its a common problem with then when they r stood for a bit but an easy fix but he cant get down till maybe sunday or early next week.

Would this be true? Not got a clue about electronic throttles but I can't see how just clearing a code would sort it?

Well clearing the code will work in the short term but I would guess that in time it will be back on.

+1 will just cause future probs if not sorted.. obv the guy just wants to sell up so clearing code will be good enough in his eyes. but the buyer will be left with the problem.

EPC light can come on for loads of different reasons, could be a simple fix.. or a not-so-simple fix

Well it looks like the EPC light has been sorted but the starting problem was something completely different; it was the starter lol
