1999 AGU 150BHP.
Since I got her last week I thought she was lacking power so have done the following.....
New spark plus
New airfilter
New oil
New oil filter
Throttle bodie cleaned
MAF cleaned
New rocker cover gasket
A let a friend of mine drive her today, he has an Evo 8 running 402.4BHP and has all the timing stuff, like a little radar thing that records 0-60 times, gives true top speeds etc. His Evo is doing 0-60 in 4.4 seconds, my Saph Cossie is 5.6....So you kind of get how this thing works!!
Well we used it on my AGU earlier....Best we got was 13.2 and worst at 13.6......Why is she so slow? I know they are a heavy car but I would have thought the 0-60 would have been around the 9.5-10 mark?
I am feeling no Turbo push at all yet the Turbo is getting hot?
Test was done with 2 up front and 1/4 of a tank of Shell V-Power. Also test was carried out on a disused air strip.

1.8ts are slow till you map them and even then they are not fast

I would have though 9.5-10 seconds though bud......13.2 is the same as a 1985 Escort 1.3!
The standard ones on Youtube I have seen are soooo much faster than my standard one

So will a diagnostic machine show up anything like faulty MAF, boost leaks etc? Excuse my knowledge here.....I mean I have been on this forum for 8 or 9 years but mostly had MK2 Golfs, nice and easy to work on so all this diagnostic stuff to me is alien!

Should be sub ten sec.
Scanning may bring up a code but not always.

What's the pcv system pipe work looking like? the network of pipes behind the oil dipstick? mine had holes galore when I first got it and its very common for them to perish which then loses boost, id check there.
-
also parkers book figure is 8.2 for 0-60 so id definitely say something isnt right , although they are definitely worth mapping, im running 209bhp on stock engine just with silicone pipes and a forge dv, feels like a different car.

Ignore Barry, 13 seconds is way too slow for even a standard 1.8t.
Check for boost leakes as a first step.

Should be around 8.8 - 10sec totally stock

I think my PCV if I am correct in saying this is an oil breather thing? If it is then mine is leaking badly.......The smell of oil that comes in to the cabin is terrible if I have the heaters going.
