My Tornado Red 5dr GTD which was ordered 28/10/13 is also scheduled for BW9

BW9 is finally here , thought I'd have a sneaky look at the Tracker and my cars already showing as in transit

Should I be concerned that BW9 is only 9 hours old and VW have already put my GTD together or is the tracker being a bit optimistic ?

The tracker does not have a repuation for either accuracy or clear presentation!

So you might have had your car built a few days early (in with us BW8 lot over on the other thread) or it might be the tracker throwing a fit! Most of us BW8 people had the tracker go to 'In transit' only yesterday (last day of the build week) and mine did not even show as 'build in progress' at any point....

Must of got the overtime authorised at last, thanks for the welcome - dilemma now, should i be in the BW8 gang even though I had a confirmed week 9 lol

Tricky conundrum!  More people there sharing your 'car in transit' stage than here though...

Just received an email for the dealers to confirm my car is at Emden waiting for the boat to the UK, so car has been built 1 week early.

Looks like VW have been splashing out the overtime.

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

Finally had JCB Medway confirm my Tornado Red 5dr GTD is set for build week 9. .

Ordered on the 7th of November but haven't had a tracker number until today. Its been torture.

Only had a 15 minute test drive but knew from that, the GTD was the correct choice, roll on 4 weeks time.

How come they did not give you an order number - they gave me mine with the the first e-mail/letter confirming the order.

Anyway at least they are consistrant in the timing - I was build week 8 and ordered a week before you...

Car was ordered through my company car scheme. Our HR are a nightmare when it comes to ordering cars. They couldn't be bothered to contact the dealer for a tracker number.(Instructed me not to contact the dealer either )

Took a guess that JCB would be the supplier as they were meant to arrange a 3 day test drive back in October (They couldn't get me anything until January, so went to my local dealer in Stirling and got a 15 minute blast in there Tornado red GTD demo.

I may have got a little inpatient on Monday and "accidentally"  phoned JCB. At least i now have a tracker number, may not have a job much longer though lol.

Wow - who do you work for MI5 or something

Im not at liberty to answer yes or no to that question  lol.

Worst bit about my wait was four weeks ago, i arrived at the office to find a Tornado Red GTD sitting in my usual parking space. I just about crashed my current car lol. I thought my car had arrived arrived early without HR letting me know.
I was devastated  when it became apparent the car was in fact a colleague that was visiting from another site.

Apparently he waited 6 months for his.

I would e-mail dealer back and ask him why he is telling you that if it says BW9 confirmed on the tracker....

Hoping to see the tracker change from "In transit" (3 weeks) to "On journey to UK" (10 days) this Wednesday. That would be bang on 5 days wait for me.

Boat called the "Emden" is due to dock in Emden at 12 on 05/03/14. Hopefully this is the boat for week 9 cars heading to Sheerness. It certainly looks like it's standard route.

Fingers crossed.

Was also told my GTD was BW9. Tracker went from "Build Week Confirmed" to "In transit" (4 weeks) on Feb 21st !
The changed to "In transit" (3 weeks) on Feb 25th. It has been at this stage since.
Rang dealer yesterday, who said it is waiting to be shipped, presumably from Emden, hopefully to Hull or Grimsby.
At this stage, tracker should change to "On journey to UK, 10 days", I think.

Anyone know the names of any ofther VAG vehicle carrier vessels?

Anyone know the names of any ofther VAG vehicle carrier vessels?

I think (not certain) that the VAG boats end with "Highway" i.e. ISAR HIGHWAY
That boat runs between Emden and Grimsby

Anyone know the names of any ofther VAG vehicle carrier vessels?

Boat Name       Current destination   Exp Destination Arrival    Usual Delivery Ports
ISAR Highway          Grimsby                 Today (18:45)                   Grimsby
African Highway         Emden                  Arrived Today                   Sheerness/Tyne
Emden                      Emden                  Arrived Today                   Sheerness
Schelde Highway       Emden                   Arrived Today                         ?
Viking Constanza       Grimsby                06/03/2014                       Grimsby

Hopefully this information is useful. Certainly plenty of ships coming and going from Emden in the next few days.

I will keep an eye on these boats and update as onward destinations are confirmed.

I should add that i cant guarantee these are VW boats, but they certainly match the destination criteria. :)

It looks like the "Viking Constanza" has changed schedule from Grimsby to Sheerness.

Its left Emden and is due to arrive in Sheerness at 6am tomorrow morning.

Tracker finally changed this morning to the "Final Stage - 10 day" message, so my car presumably caught one of those boats !

Some members seem to think that the tracker only changes once a week, but this is definitely NOT the case. It seems to change daily .... so my advice to everyone is keep looking .....

Text update from VW and my tracker changed to In Transit, 3 weeks this morning. Does that mean it's in Emden waiting for a boat?

Tracker now shows in transit 4 weeks arrival at dealers. It's brilliant but I didn't expect it this soon. Need to terminate my PCH on my current car sooner than I intended it seems. Also going on holiday mid April hope it doesn't clash with the arrival of my car. But very exited

As my car was in BW7 and is now showing step 7 (with the dealer) - I thought it might be useful to you BW9ers to detail when and how my tracker changed (Notice some stages were bypassed altogether and the fact that it updates on different days):

Sun Feb 9       - 'Confirmed BW7' (was at this stage for 3 weeks from Sat 18 Jan)
Fri Feb 14       - 'Now built, on average 4 weeks'
Thurs Feb 20  - 'Now built, on average 3 weeks'
Fri Feb 28       - 'Arrived in UK'
Thurs March 6 - 'Arrived at dealer'

Hope this helps - I've been backdating from the BW3 thread to try and work out how long each stage would take!

Thats me finally on 10 days from this morning.

My car must be on either the African Highway which docked in Sheerness this afternoon or the Viking Constanza which is due to dock tonight.

I can finally get away from the ship tracker, its more addictive than the VW version lol

Any idea which ship docked last night (Moday night) as mine turned to Arrived in UK on Tuesday morning (apols as I am BW8 but just curious about which ship) - thanks!

I would hazard a guess at the Viking Constanza, it seems to be the only regular Sheerness boat at the moment.

I suspect your boat may have came in earlier than Monday though,  it looks like the VW tracker may be taking a few days to update (if my theory below is correct).

The reason i say this is, my car is currently on 10 days from yesterday morning, which i believe means "on a ship" (i may be wrong though). It takes around 20 to 23 hours to go from Emden to Sherness. There doesn't seem to be any ships scheduled to make that trip in the next 24 hours, so i think my car may have been on either the Viking Constanza or the African Highway these both landed in Sheerness last night and left again this morning.

Fingers crossed that my theory is correct and i get the "Your car is in the UK" email tomorrow lol

I'm also BW8 and my car updated to being in the UK even though the boat left about a day earlier from Grimsby

Mine also changed from 3 weeks to 10 days on Monday and arrived in the Uk on Tuesday!

The tracker can't be totally trusted

Well my theory was correct, i did indeed get the "Your car is in the UK" email this morning

Saying that due to the road tax month changing over it will be more likely April  before i see it.

Haven't got a clue what i will do for the next 10 days with no VW or boat tracker to look at every 10 min lol.

Have any of you other BW9's got your car yet?

Got a nice email with a video introduction to my car today from the dealer. It's arrived!!! Looked really good even though it still had all the protective covers on it. Took nine weeks in total from ordering to delivery, that's brilliant! It was estimated to arrive 31st May. So it's well early. Just need a collection date now. Very exited!

Well after what feels like a life time waiting, my GTD finally arrived this morning.

The day wasn't without incident though. I walked into the car park to sign for the car and noticed my 5 door car had lost 2 doors (All of my options on it though), yep the wrong car was ordered/delivered by either the dealership or my HR department, i will find out on Monday.

There was no chance i was rejecting it though after a 21 week wait, plus if i was honest with myself i always actually wanted the 3 door, it just looks the mutts nuts

All i will say anyone that is still awaiting delivery, the wait is worth it. Its so good, my father who is a massive BMW fan (3 new in the last 8 years) told me he may consider a GTD over his proposed new 4 series this year, after a 20 minute blast. . I am also very impressed with the general quality of the car, my other car is a BMW M135 and would say the VW is every bit as well put together if not better.

One complaint though, why did VW have to be different from every other manufacturer and not add a USB port , in my eyes thats just a bonkers decision. VW Stirling want £40 for a MDI to USB cable  The SD card is on order lol.
