Post by: davemk4 on 19 February 2014, 17:55

Dv is shot. Get yourself a forge 007p or 008. But before all that get it logged for faults.

He already has a 007p if you read his sig. Maybe needs a rebuild with new piston design. Worth a shot.

Right pissing me off. Car hsd a proper boost check with fancy gaget that forces air through system no leaks. Vcds etc no error codes. Dv dumps normal im getting good mpg etc. Sounds silly can a car loose its map?

Depends on who mapped it.

my mate had a revo (i think) map put on his old car, he unplugged the battery and when he connected it up it had lost all power, he rang up the company who maped it and they said cause hes unplugged his battery he has lost some 'settings' etc and that its just reverted to a basic revo (ro what ever company it was) map. they then re-did the settings as a "good will" gesture, but told him if he lost the 'settings' again he will have to pay for them to be put on.

never heard anyone else having this problem, but it certainly wasnt running as fast as it previously was...

I've heard of this too, wasn't sure if it was an urban myth

Well I will certainly ask r-tech abot this when I go in for map, I wont be paying £300+ for a map if "disconnecting the batt" messes up the software.

This urban myth only seems to apply to maps were you can change the settings like boost and fuel through something like a REVO SPS switch

99% of the time you will be fine. I've never had a customer ring me up saying their map has been lost as a result of disconnecting the battery

The thing is battery not been off or anything. It literally happened overnight. Drove home fine. In morning gutless

Well who of guessed it. Replace n75 last year to latest revision..... guess wat no error code but took it off and can blow through all 3 pipes. So back to my original 13year 120k valve boom gTi is back. So will get it swapped under warranty at vw.

Don't say this , my agu ko3s has a revo map and as been gutless since I parked it up and battery went flat , I thought the dv needed a service

My mate has revo map on his aum. Its a swicthable between stock and the remap. Had the battery disconnected may times and no problems when hooking it back up.
