Title: Wiring/switched live issue?
Post by: maxmc2 on 18 February 2014, 15:20
Hi guys,

When i was wiring in a stereo to my car i noticed there wasn't a switched live at all, both the red and yellow wires were constantly live even when the ignition was switched off, for the moment i just take the face off but if the car is left for a couple of days this drains the battery.

I also noticed that when i get out of the car and have left the lights on i do not get an audible warning like i should do.

Would this suggest that the ignitions switch is up the spout?

TIA

Are you sure the head unit is sound. If someone has bridged the perm and ignition lives so it is on all the time it still should'nt flatten battery if not used as it will have to be turned on to make use of the power.

I would check the wiring to see where it has been bridged before i went any further.Put it back to standard and see where you are then.
