Thought I would check my plugs as my car does not seem to be pulling like she should.
Engine is a 1.8 Turbo.
Each chamber where the spark plugs live have oil in them. I removed the plugs and gave them a clean. They are called 'Beru' plugs and look very tired so need to get some new ones, which ones shall I go for and why is each chamber full of oil?
Thanks in advance.

i would of said rocker but look at the sides there is no other signs of it been rocker cover it looks dry all around the cylinder at the top which wouldn't normally be dry if it was rocker but I'm not familiar with this engine to know how it looks and if there a common problem

It's dry around the top because the gasket that will be leaking is half way down the chamber, just after it narrows down to a circle

Thanks guys
Would this effect performance as she is not as fast as I was hoping? She is standard so 150bhp and has done 152k so I suppose I cant expect her to be super quick but a bit faster than she is!
Also.....What plugs shall I get as there are so many for the 1.8 Turbos.

There are 2 gaskets under the rocker cover. 1 is the main outer gasket and then you have one in the middle where the sparkies go. Get new ones from tps.

Thanks mate.....Will do
When I do a rocker cover gasket do the bolts need to be tightened in a certain order at a certain torque?
-
Not sure on the bolts but spark plug wise just get yourself some copper NGK8s off ebay, should cost you about £8
-
Yes you need to do the bolts in a certain way start from th middle and work out like a star and tighten alittle bit at a time each way. All bolts need to be 10N

Thanks guys
New rocker cover gasket, plugs and airfilter fitted......Feels like a different car! Those plugs really must have needed doing.
