Basic question, as my mind isn't working today so can't quite remember my GCSE physics stuff!
Looking at a set of new front speakers for my 2007 Golf, looking at some JBL GTO-609C 16.5cm components. The specifications list them as 75w RMS @ 3 Ohms.
Now, my head unit pumps out 50w @ 4 Ohms per channel, so will connecting these up cause problems? If I'm right, lowing the resistance of a speaker (the Ohms) will result in a greater power draw from the amp (in this case, the built in amplifier from the head unit). I'm concerned I may fry the head unit if I had all 4 channels connected to a set of these speakers (2 front, 2 rear).
Or will the speakers just get a 4 Ohm connection and run on that power?
Many thanks for help.
