Title: fully comp driving another car not in my name question

If im fully comp and documents say I can drive another vehicle that's not in my name can I drive newly bought car home.  Or am I right in thinking the car itself has to be insured?  As the owner has cancelled there insurance now

The car has to be insured in order for you to be covered 3rd party.
