Title: Sky Sports
Post by: CraigW on 12 February 2014, 18:50
What the hell is going on with Sky Sports this year. Why do all the best football games suddenly seem to be on BT sport? You had the Man City v Arsenal game a few weeks ago, both Liverpool and Newcastle v Sunderland derbies and now the Arsenal v Man U game tonight.

It's bloody annoying considering how much it costs for these channels and I resent having to pay an extra tenner a month for games I think should be shown by Sky.

With BT winning the right to Champions league games I would be very tempted to cancel my subscription but then I would miss the F1 and the golf coverage of the majors.

Rant over

Blame Murdock and his media empire ,back in the day all the sport was free on terrestrial t.v then Murdock /sky stuck his greedy nose in the trough and it was all down hill from there. :lipsrsealed:

It's all about 1st picks and when BT/SKY exercise their rights. Far too long to post, but google it.

I'm mega cheesed off that BT have got the Moto GP this year! So i've got to pay another £10-£15 to watch it!! I've only got Sky sports for the Rugby League coverage as i don't like football, it's getting beyond a joke!

But bet you, when your broadband comes up for renewal you'll be looking at the BT packages for the free BT sports on Sky...Cunning marketing plan if you ask me.

As said, BT outbid everyone to get the rights show them. It was a gamble, but it was without a doubt done to get people to sign up for their broadband in the future.

I've always had BT broadband, so get it all included in what I already pay.

I can't ever remember pre-Premier League games being live on terrestrial TV Simon. You would get FA/League cup games, World Cup, Euros etc, but only on one channel or the other. If BBC had a game on, ITV wouldn't so that people that were missing Eastenders could watch Emmerdale Farm instead.

Now you get the choice of live games behind the red button, so you can even choose which game you want to watch. Worth paying for in my opinion.

There was no premier league back then only Leagues 1-4 and football mostly kicked off at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon not when it pleased Sky and you could watch Mike Tyson hammer who ever they put in front of him for free  Pay per view what a con that is .

So virtually no live football then. Personally I don't mind paying to be able to watch maybe 2 live Premier League games on a Saturday, 2 on a Sunday, one on a Monday night possibly another mid week and a choice of nearly all Champions League matches.

Anyway, I thought you worked for BT? Don't you get a deal on all that sort of stuff?
