This issue has cropped up loads, it's a known problem. You either bring it back to the dealers for them to faff around with or you take the far easier option that I took - squirt the catch with some grease / WD-40. I did this about a month ago and it's been perfect since.

I always forget about WD-40!

Yes mine does it too. Always forget to put some oil on it though.

If it wont open push the bottom right corner of it once you have pressed the top left to open the latch. It usually pivots open around the hinge even if it is a bit stiff.

I got the dealer to sort mine. It was getting embarrassing turning up to the petrol station and having to drive off after 10mins without being able to fill up

Good find Alan. It's appalling VW haven't manufactured the most simple things properly!

Ditto problems, a spray with GT85 has sorted it out.

the fix is where the fuel flap pushing into the guide at the rear you need to take a sharp blade and take a small amount of the small ridged bit of plastic at the top and bottom  this is a permanant fix .this is on the fuel flap its self .
