Title: so I bought a Golf!
Post by: rhysgriffx on 12 February 2014, 10:55
So I bought a golf its a 1994 MK3 1.4 L I bought it for £200 on 74.000 miles. It's got no tax or mot, it needs 3 new tyres for mot but I'm going to get alloys anyway. It seems solid underneath buy there's a few dents on bodywork along with some bad scratches and rust patches. But as its my first car and first project I'm going to try and make it as cheap as possible but without ruining it. That's why on opting to spray it myself either matte or satin black? What you think? I've sprayed before and not expecting too bad a result. Right so the plans

Sand it (in progress)
Spray it matte or satin black (weather dependent)
Lower it on coilovers (sourced)
Smoked fogs, indicators and side indicators (bought)
Headlights (bought)
Interior (searching) mines cream and dirty
ICE (almost there, got 6x9s and 900w sub, gotta upgrade dashboard speakers and wire in door speakers as it hasn't got any due to it being base model.)
Exhaust (be one of the last things)

I need some advice with wheels, my Mrs has got some alloys from her old car, she used them for like 2 weeks! They've got brand new toyo tyres too, their white team dynamics and are 15s? Reckon I could pull them off? Save a lot of money.

I'll try to figure out how to upload pics, any feedback wanted and appreciated.

Speak soon

Rhys

I wouldnt bother with the 6x9's assuming you were going to fit them in the rear parcel shelf?
What make/brand is the 900W sub and what amp is going to run it?

I used to have 6x9's and in the end found the sound they gave confusing.
Better to get good speakers in the doors

6x9s are sounding good too tbh, next step with sounds is to wire up some door speakers and possibly make a mould for rear sides too and wire them to a 4 Chanel amp
