Looks similar to mine (cam quality and text), the E-Prance Mini 0801. Superb bit of kit.

Yep :) E-Prance mini 0801

TBH - the quality is much better than that - YouTube makes it worse than the original
It records a 1080P

I did get the NextBase 402G Pro (Dod 430W) and that was even better - but it had to go back because with the stupid window suction setup, it took up most of the window.
If you have a large windscreen, the 402G is better by far and has WDR.

The Mini 0801 is tiny though, and uses a sticky pad - so can be hidden behind the rear view mirror

There is a new version of the 0801 coming that uses a much better chip and WDR - if your not in a rush - wait.
have look here for the new one

RikWebb thank you that is quite a good and comprehensive summary, saves me lots of reading and trying to compare different Dash Cams. Would it be possible for you to post some picture's of how it looks fitted to your car please.

This guy is the real deal. He's been developing it for ages and releases firmware updates all the time.

I'm still tempted to put my 0801 facing the rear when I get my hands on this one, hmmm decisions

Good plan - I did think about a rear facing one :) (the 720p version of the mini @£28) got me thinking again now....

As you already have your mk7, how easy would it be to route the cable to the rear window under the back seats etc?

Excuse the ignorance as I've only really started researching in-car cameras but what makes this dashcam so special? I had a look on both your links and the folk on the forum seem desperate for this camera to be released!!

haha, we are desperate thats why!!

The guy who is producing it has basically had our input from start to finish. The first cam he released was based on the GS1000 but had far better internals than some of the cheap Chinese crap. It had amazing quality all round and was very reliable. It pushed the limit of the Ambrella A2 chipset. This is the second cam he is about to release and is better in every way. He hasn't skimped on anything and has used quality parts all round. When it is finally released it should be one of the very best out there with some of the best features (requested by a lot of people on the forum). He's the only manufacturer who has gone out and listened to what the end consumer wants and and put it into practice (such as dual 32gb Micro SD slots for example).

When I bought his first one I paid him via paypal, 7 days later I received the parcel all the way from China, He even put in a brand new decent pair of earphones as a little extra because they were 'lying around'. It's the little things like that and the excellent back up and reliability which is making him get quite a following...
