Title: About to remap the golf
Post by: WadGTI on 11 February 2014, 13:40
Hi Folks,

The golf is  gong in the last week of this month to SOS Motorsport in Scotland for its remap. The guy is charging £300 with a before/after dyno. I have searched on reviews for the place but can't see much. He seemed pretty confident about remapping it even though he hasn't done a AUQ. Anyways.

Timing belt, pump, themo, temp senders, MAF, injector seats/seals, vac leaks, full service (inc fuel) all has been done from november last year to now. The car is much better and pulls quite strong. The only thing I didn't touch was the oil pump and pick up pipe.

Mainly not having much time to get around to it and the pain to removing the sump. I have driven the car quite hard in recent months, more so in the last month and (touch wood) never had any warnings/lights r.e. oil issues.

The question I have is, should I get the pickup and pump done before the remap. If so, It means it would set me back a month or so on the remap possibly even longer. The engine is turning onto 127k. I have heard horror stories about water pumps and belts snapping on the dyno but not so much about the oil pickup (but I would assume its just as prone as failing as other components.)

Any suggestions would be appricated
.
Thanks
p.s. I would love to do R-tech, but its a fair trek for me.
