Howdy,
Just wondering if its possible to replace the manual heating knobs with the Climatronic setup on a '99 GTI 1.8t MK4??
Ive read yes, no and maybe but dont seem to be able to get a straight answer. Any help appreciated

You can replace it but you will need the heater box. All the loom from fusebox to heaterbox to the engine bay and also the climatronic unit aswel.

Not a small job then. Where would i go if i was to look at getting this done for me and what do you reckon the cost would be?
I was only considering it to improve interior image of car, now having second thoughts lol

just buy a car with it fitted next time

So now ive got it ive been looking around at various different bits to improve it and I noticed once guy had swapped his old manual controls for the climatronic and it looks great. Had i of known now what i knew then then yes, id of bought one with it in ha

There a guy in derby side who is a breaker of mk4s. He WILL have the bits that you need. It is a BIGA$$ job. You will need to remove the dash and what not. Not sure if he can do it for you. If your interested in the parts, look in the good guys section. The title of the thread is breaker in matlock.

It will cost you more than the car is worth

fair doo's. looking on th'e-bay, i can get panel, loom and heater box for around £50. Im guessing getting it fitted would be the pricey part. think i shall give it a miss then. cheers though, will just need to find another way of sprucing it up.
