Had bluefin remap installed on Saturday. Ran fine til today. On the way home gave it a bit of welly and got epc and engine light. Running like a bag of nails!
VCDS tells me missfire on cylinder 4!
Not happy. Will this be coil pack! I hope so.
I'm assuming it's the remap. Bit of a coincidence.
Any help welcome.
Thanks
Chris.

Yeah, probably just blown a coilpack mate. Often happens after a map. It just highlights weak or worn parts.
I would recommend the R8 coilpack - same price but they handle a higher voltage and fire better. There is a review and stat somewhere online.
-
Thanks Rocket.
Thought it might be. Just swapping them round now to confirm.
-
Most likely your coil. I blew one soon after my apr stage 1, put r8 coils in after that. No problems since :-)

check vw see if they had a recall like the mk4 and mk5
-
yes definately the coil pack. Moved it to cylinder 1 (left side of engine looking from front) and the missfire followed.
Can anyone give me part number of R8 ones so i dont have to trawl boards?
EDIT - Found the R8 ones at awesome gti for £77 a set. Are these good to use with standard plugs?
-
There is talk on some forums saying you should change the plugs to match the R8 coils if using those.
Not sure myself.
The standard VW ones were updated to 06H905115B. (05/2012)
I fitted those and have had no problems, running Bluefin Stage 1 as well.
In fact for some reason the exhausts don't soot up any more.

the ones in mine are the A version (mines 2011) where did you get yours from (dealer)?
-
Yea, just got them from the dealer, the GTI ones are more expensive than the R8 ones for some reason.
-
There is no real reason to swap plugs straight away. Get your new coils and see how they run mate, if you feel a lack of power or any kind of misfire then swap them, easy job if they do end up need swapping.

Do you know if VW dealers stock them? using the wifes car tomorrow and could do with getting some new ones tomorrow. Mrs needs her car for work on wednesday
otherwise its the wednesday morning off work just to wait for them to arrive.

Can get 4 R8 ones today £140 all in.
What would you do?
Will i definately need to upgrade the plugs to? Or will stock plugs and r8 coils be ok for the time being?

Read my above post - you dont Need to, if you have any problems then swap, the standard GTI plug are very decent.
