Title: Gti welcome screen
Post by: Ap69 on 10 February 2014, 10:32
Only had the car a week couple of times when starting up I've seen a (think) vw badge then a red bar saying gti.

I can't get it to do it now. Opened up this morning turned ignition on and it showed the blue vw icon then it went straight to car data mpg screen.

Any ideas on how to display it?

Thanks

It's come up many times before. It seems totally random! I did think it was only on cold starts, but sometimes it doesn't appear for me on cold starts and sometimes it'll appear after it's only been switched off a few minutes.

Same here. Also the volume bar randomly vanishes from the MFD on some journeys, but always returns on the next.  Software glitches I guess

My radio has not done that but there do seem to be other glitches, changing the default media source on its own and twice now I have lost all the radio presets. Does anyone know what the latest software is for the Composition Media. My car is going into the dealer on Wednesday so hopefully they can update it.

The source changing is really annoying. Every time you plug in your phone (which I do for power while it's running sat nav) it automatically changes the music source - and I've even had it change to bluetooth as I walked in range at a petrol station once. I can't decide if this is deliberate but poorly thought out or a bug..

The welcome to GTi has just done it tonight after 5 cold starts today, bit random!

My source always changes too. Its my biggest bug bear with the media system.

lol thats your biggest problem with it! When i push buttons too fast for its liking mines spazzes out and shows me a map of Wolfsburg before realising were no longer classing that as Home Address, guess its just homesick.

Anyone else find it incredibly slow sometimes, mines like an old PC but I dont know why, it feels like something a software update might fix but its liveable so far, much slower than my old RNS315 that thing was instant.

Mine actually did the GTD version last night!

Nothing this morning.

Perhaps it's the boot screen for when the device has completely powered down or something?

I got into my car last night and started reversing out of my parking space.  While reversing, the GTD logo screen decided to come on and get rid of the rear camera screen, and then proceeded to just display the radio screen (while still in reverse mode).  Definitely some bugs in there.  Never happened before.  Maybe temp related malfunction?  It was pretty cold...

Just for interest sake my car was at the dealer yesterday and I asked them to check the updates on the radio. They checked and it was up to date on ver 0421 for the Composition Media.

I think its designed to just appear randomly as a kind of 'surprise and delight' feature. Whenever it appears on mine its totally unexpected am I always think 'that's cool, especially the 'sound by Dynaudio. It just gives me a little reminder of what I'm driving and the sound system I have.
I am quite shallow and very easily pleased though!! :)
