Hey this is my first time posting so excuse me if its poor, But i have a mk3 golf gti 2.0L 8v  I've fitted a sportex boxsta backbox and a k&n panel filter but there is only a TINY difference in sound, the backbox has a silencer which i didn't know about until i fitted it, I've ordered a sportex race centre pipe as well once discovered the sound was no different, hoping the centre pipe will change all this. So was wondering why is it still quiet ? Will the centre pipe change all this ? If not is there anyway around this ? Thanks in advance

Good chance your old exhaust was nakered and loud so when you changed it was no different. If you was to buy a new standard exhaust it will be very quiet.
If you want noise then run a straight pipe just to backbox and run a decat pipe also. So no silencers or cat from manifold to backbox. This will be very loud and will pop and bang.
Also for noise cut a big hole in your airbox. I had two. A enclosed modified standard box for performance and a airbox that I cut a huge chunk out of with a saw.
Next time try asking questions before you buy

I had a feeling it was going to be all Ok. Appears not ill link you the centre pipe I've ordered which im certain removes the centre silencer.

Thats the centre pipe I've ordered which has no silencers in it as its a race spec, do you reckon this will solve the quite issue and make my car nice and loud ?
Are you able to take a picture of your airbox ?

That will make it loud. Leave the cat in for now as removing it will make it too loud and fail emissions.
No I dont sorry mate. If you go in mk3 maintenance there should be a thread in there about airbox

Okay Thanks very much as long as its mildly loud that's all I'm after. My friend has recently taken out his cat and its what i would call irritatingly loud :P and MOT isn't a problem luckily for me but ill leave the cat in for now unless i want more irritating noise :)
Will do, Thanks for your help mate.
