600 miles covered and my GTD has developed a purring noise from the dash which occurs between 1500 - 2000 RPM. It also only happens when in sport mode. Has anyone else had this and if so what is the cure?

I had a dash buzz at around 1500-1700rpm when my car went in for suspension mount bearings. They said they couldn't detect a buzz and when I got my car back with new suspension mount bearings, the buzz was gone. Not convinced the 2 issues were related, but i'm happy enough not to have the issue any more.

Does it sound like this by any chance?

Yep that's identical to it

I've had that noise for quite a few months now. The car was in before Xmas and the dash was removed to try and determine what it was. They couldn't pinpoint the noise but thought that more sound proofing may resolve it but unfortunately it's not worked. I'm beginning to think it may be a faulty sound actuator but not 100% sure.
As with you it mostly happens to me when I'm in sport mode and under acceleration. It's infuriating
-
Yeah it is annoying I will run it for another while to see if it stops, the thoughts of the dash out doesn't inspire me, I also think the tracking is out slightly as the sterling is a bit vague.

Could be a good call if it only happened in SPORT mode...
-
Why not turn the actuator off in vcds and see if the noise goes.

That's effectively what he's doing of he is not in SPORT mode but I guess with VCDS he could turn just the actuator off...
-
I would give it a go if I had vcds but I don't. I'll maybe pop in to the dealership when I get the time and get them to switch it off to see if that solves it

I have a hollow plastic squeak eminating from the flexing of the passenger seatbelt clasp when the missus is in the car. There are many sources of noise on the MK7. I've had squeaky/creaky suspension mount bearings, i've had the dashboard buzz around 1500-1700rpm which fixed itself (apparently) when the car went in for other warranty work.

Had a wee day off work today so decided to pop into VW and arranged for the master technician to to come out for a test drive. Right from the off the noise was very audible so he has taken a recording and the car is booked in for Wednesday. The only small issue is that I go on holiday for two weeks on Thursday so the car is going to be sitting at the dealership for all that time.
I suppose if it gets the issue fixed once and for all then it's no big deal.

I have mine booked in next Wednesday for the well alignment, the service manage drove the car and agrees it is not right, surprise surprise the dash nise has vanished..
-
Well collected the car from VW today and touch wood the noise seems to have been silenced. They eventually traced it to the trim at the plenum chamber (whatever that is) and sound proofed it. So it wasn't the sound actuator after all it would appear.
I hope this is the end of it finally and I can get back to enjoying the car

Did you get a fix on this after all guys?
I seem to have developed a buzzing sound in Sport mode in the dash at certain revs and the sound act has taken on a new note as if some bees have taken residence. Chose any other mode and it is not there so must be related to the SA.

That's what mine was doing, it is intermittent so I havnt bothered going back to get it looked at.
