Have booked my 'baby' in for a remap and cat back exhaust. I didn't have any plans to modify my car when I bought it but the idea has been growing on me. It will be nice to have a bit more power but i'm mainly looking forward to the better fuel consumption as it is crap about town!
Next stop, new alloys, preferably red ..........

My 'baby' wasn't supposed to be a project, I just wanted to look a bit cooler driving around lmao ;)

yeah ditto.. lol @ better fuel consumption! i get throttle hungry and the fuel consumption idea goes down the pan!!! however my fuel range goes up if i cruise on motorway which is a big plus. oh well we only live once! :nerd: to hell with it! lol
-
I find driving at 3,000rpm on the motorway gives me more miles per tank. I think its because its in the peak of performance to although the revs are higher, the engine is getting the most of out the fuel and thus uses less.
Floor it, and its does drink it a bit though...
-
Mine is definitely better on the motorway and duel carriage ways, I just need to do more granny driving round town ;)
-
It's not the greatest pic as the sun was shining, makes a change from rain tho I guess

yes you will get slightly better fuel consumption once the map is done. No you won't cause you'll be flooring it everywhere!!!

So very true lol

Well the car is in Amd today so just waiting patiently to pick it up. I so hate public transport!!
-
Just wait till the drive home!!

I was looking forward to that but my car is staying in overnight as the dv valve is f***ed and there is a problem with the charcoal cartridge thing so it's throwing up error messages. They have ordered the parts and will fit them tomorrow. They have given me a loan car so can't grumble too much, currently driving a remapped skoda :)
-
Please let us know how it's running after the work is finished.
As am currently thinking about doing the same thing to mine.
Enjoy the drive home! I'm sure you will!

Looked them up. All sounds impressive. But they're in Leicestershire?
I'm in Surrey. Sorry if I've found the wrong company.

I think that's them, I decided on Amd as they are just down the road from me and have been told they are okay. Will let you know what the car is like when I finally pick it up :)
-
Thank you. Much appreciated!
-
Well I have picked the car up and it is like driving a new car, it is so smooth to drive and the acceleration, well, what can I say lol. I'm certainly going to take it out for a run later on :)
Figures wise, it has gone from 202 bhp & 208 torque to 259 bhp and 282.8 torque so quite a massive increase in torque so hopefully should be much more cost efficient on fuel.
In addition to the remap I had a full service, cat back exhaust, charcoal cartridge, dv valve and cam follower so it has been an expensive day! Amd did do me a deal on the cam follower as I had all the other work done and the remap had been reduced by 50 quid the day before my car went in so it's all good.
-
The figure increase for bhp sounds about right.
But I thought on our mk5,the original torque was 280? And after the remap it goes up to around 360. But I may have got my numbers completely muddled up on that,so please don't quote me on that!
Anyway, the fact that it feels like driving a new car, says it all really. Enjoy your 'new car'!

I'm not sure on the torque I shall have to google it lol. Just took it down to Southend, was so tempted to floor it along the A13 but was on best behaviour as I had a passenger :)

Just thought i'd update on the car, it's fu***ng awesome tbh. It just runs so much better and is definitely much better on fuel consumption. Took it up to the midlands at the weekend for ultimate dubs and had no issues even though I ended up sitting in traffic for nearly 2 hours!
