Title: Starting Problem
Post by: richie2480 on 02 February 2014, 16:35
Hi all, A problem has developed with my golf. Was coming one day last week and as I was parking her up I stalled her. When I tried to restart her she would turn over but not start. Fuel guage was just above the low mark and thought as I was stalled on a slope that might be the problem. Went to petrol station and filled up 5l can. Topped car up and she started first time. Anyway, couple of days later got in car to start her up and she wouldn't start. She'll turn over but not start. Anyway went back into the house, came out a couple of hours later to try her and she started first time. Confused
Thinking it's either ingnition or fuel problem but not sure where to look first. Anyone got any ideas?

and which golf might that be?
7 generations, well over 10 engines per generation.... so over 100 different engines that you could have in your car...

Looks problem is solved. Called a mobile mech I use. After we checked ignition which was fine and checking fuel system which was fine, initial thoughts were fifth injecotr was inop. I explained even with fifth injector being inop she would still run but run rough. He called a mate who was a KJet guru. he suggested checking CO2 mix.  Well 1.5 turns on the CO2 screw later she ran fine. Bit confused at having to turn 1.5 times as she'd never had that adjusted in God knows how long, and definately not 1.5 turns. She actually seems to be running better as well
