Post by: Brummieboy on 02 February 2014, 16:10
I put an rclick kit in my car as i didnt have c/ locking. I got a key cut buy i was told i needed a transponder. I fidnt think i needed one. Anyway the new key starts the car but it dies straight away. So i went back to my old key. Now the glow plug light flashes!!!! Is there anyone who knows how i can use the new key? Cheers

Did you remove the chip from inside your original key because if you haven't transferred it into your new RClick switchblade key fob then the car will be immobilised, hence it starting and shutting down after a couple of seconds.

Your car has an immobliser.  New key does not have a (known) transponder. So it does what its meant to do. The glow plug symbol means there is a fault in ecu - would imagine this reads someyhing like: immobiser signal too small...

If you want to keep using old key buy a new transponder and it can be taught to immo.... if you have login key. That's on tje black strip that came with keys on the car when it was new.
If only new key should work then just swap transponder from old key and get fault codes clwared.

Im in worcester/ malvern and can do both
