Title: New shoes for my Mk7
Post by: RedGTD on 01 February 2014, 15:44
Can anyone tell me the name of these. BBS's?
I've seen them on here, mostly on Mk4's and 5's.
Anyone good at photoshopping?
What kind of price do these go for?

Thoughts and comments please.

Classic wheels for a GTI.  They're BBS CH-R...

Yip BBS CH or BBS CHR.

They range from anywhere between £900 and £1600

Photos and an ad link would help! Hint hint!

Must get round to trial fitting my own CK's to the mk7 at some point, they're still buried at the back of the garage and every time I scrub the Austins I vow to get my BBSs on the darned car.

As an aside, do the Audi TT jacking point covers fit the mk7 like they do the mk5/6 Golf?

And the pics at the top are indeed CH's unlike the red BBM GTI on very expensive CH-Rs.

Exonian, now you've got me wanting a set of these. I had the old set on the mark 3 I owned years ago.

Sorry  :embarrassed:

It inspired me to drag my BBSs out of the back of the garage and polish them up in the kitchen yesterday (yes, the wife was out and yes I was still halfway through when she got back!!! Gave her a good excuse to scrub the floor this morning too!!! Ooops!).

I reckon the CH-R's look best on the mk7 but at £1500 plus tyres when I already have a set of fully tyred up CK's there's only one option for me.
Funny how different styles suit different Golfs - the mk5 looks its best on CH's, the mk6 on CK's and the mk7 on hideously expensive CH-R's…
It's all in the lines and angles and curves and…  :nerd:

I personally wouldn't let replicas anywhere near a nice new car of value.

++1. Unless they're exceptionally good reps, they'll spoil the handling of the car too. They're typically hard to balance and not as durable as OEM / genuine wheels.

I love the look of the CH-R's in those pics. If my Austin's ever got trashed or whiteworm'd I'd be looking at those...

I am so buying a genuine set of CH-R's. They look incredible in satin black with the rim protector. Wow! Worth every penny!

I'm guessing the 18's are the sensible choice for performance?

Yeah bit if you're spending £1500 on the rims then another £7-800 on tyres you may as well go for the better looking option!! 19s all the way!!!

With regards to reps - go for European made ones if you can find them (they do exist!!) as they will have the correct type approval markings etc. They cost more but are worth the outlay.
The Chinese reps are either good or very poor and you've no way of knowing what you're going to get!!
They're cheap for a reason.
