Title: what's the difference between relay 150 and 175

Hi I noticed that both these relays have something to do with the Park/Neutral sensor for automatic VW's.

I know that relay 150 also is linked to the reverse lights.

Different models of VW's use one or the other...my MK3 golf uses relay 175 while my B4 Passat uses relay 150 for the P/N switch

Does this mean that these relays are the same/interchangeable without damaging the ECU? Or is it best not to swap these relays....

I can't find a good guide to the relays and if they are interchangeable online so any help would be appreciated...:)

It's the starter relay for autos. Look if the pin layout is the same and compare the circuitry icon...
might be a difference in the current it can handle - thin one says 40/90 the other 40/95 at the bottom.

can this switch be bypassed and then it wont be needed altogether? I would just have to make sure that I have my foot on the brake when I start the car or make sure it is in neutral/park..

no, it can't be bypassed. it's not a switch, nor a very simple relay.
