Title: AMD Remap - GTI mk6 2011
Post by: eug2huge on 31 January 2014, 14:49
Hi guys, I've got my gti booked in with AMD at the end of Feb for a stage 1 remap.

First choice was R-tech (due to recommendations) but they said they'd have to have my car overnight which i can't do. I think it's because the ECU has to come out and/or it has anti tamper software on it. If anyone can enlighten me please do..

Have heard good things about AMD though although they are a little pricier. Anyone used them? A friend had his R32 done by them.

Since owning the car I have replaced the air box with a CarbonSpeed intake and Scorpion non res half back. Looking forward to some nice performance gains hopefully!

RTech don't currently offer tuning for the MED 17 ECU's with their own code but they are Revo agents as well. I think some early models could be serial programmed but later models had to have the ecu removed.

I haven't seen much feedback for AMD MK6 tuning on here but expect +40 ps from the software and maybe a few more ponies for the intake.

Superb company in my opinion. Have used them for at least 6 cars (going back more than once for add ons) and every time they have been fantastic. My Ed 35 is awesome now its been there. You will not be disappointed.

My Mk5 is with them today getting a remap and cat back exhaust. Waiting to pick it up :)

Had it done on Friday, interesting to see that the intake and cat back gave it an additional 10bhp from standard before the re-map.. Now running at 261bhp, 278.2 lb/ft @4264rpm (up from 205.8).

All in all very happy. Haven't had a proper chance to test yet as so much traffic about but did have a blast home from night out on Saturday and was spinning in 3rd. More pull/consistent power.

Yup! definitely more poke. Massive smile on my face as I took the slip road to the motorway yesterday after work!
