Title: advice on dare rs alloys
Post by: mush on 30 January 2014, 17:39
hi all

ive been thinking about getting these wheels for a while now and wondered what everyones thoughts are?

ive got a few questions of course

this guy was running 165's all round - safe for a vr6 mk2? (being stretched over an 8inch rim)
the lip does stick out a fair bit (police and general street rats stopping me saying your illegal)

I’m running normal bbs gti rims do you think they'll be better round bends with a good tyre?.

finally would you have them or stick with standards?

Tyre stretch is a stupid thing to do for stance and dangerous for handling. When hitting a corner hard there is room for the tyre to slide over the wheel. Your standard wheels are probably 195 which is putting more rubber on the road and better grip, this will be worse for handling. Your car though

Do you want to go around bends quicker? If you want comfort and less agro stuck with what you have.  If you like the stretch then go with that.  The wheels themselves are fine.  It's really down to you on what your motivation is to get them.

mines very front end ish with the big lump in and handlings not so good on the standards, yes it has 195s at the moment and i can stick with 195's with these wheels but i'm not able to go so low with these. i'll put my thinking cap on and have a re-think.

are you on standards sgt lemon?

Narrower tyres is going to mean less grip so would not be a wise move.
