Title: VW Warranty - Totally confused....
Post by: r32tev on 30 January 2014, 14:56
Hi Guys,

Bought myself a GTI about a month ago now and had a letter come through from VW regarding my Warranty. The dates made no sense at all.
Basically when I bought the car I got 2 years warranty added to the deal today I spoke to my usual servicing chap at my local dealer about warranty and it came up that my Warranty ends in december this year... well thats clearly not right. It was shown as a "top up warranty"

The cars original warranty runs out on 21st march this year, but i was given two years  so assume it runs out in march 2016.. The car was approved used which comes with 12 months warranty anyway.

So my worry is... what should my warranty be???

Should it be from march through to march 2016 OR would they change it so that it runs from the date I bought the car (20th December)... through to the following december ?

Witing to hear back about it all.

Why cant it just be simple :(

Oh well, thats my rant over :)

Hi

Added a 2 year warranty when you purchased the vehicle is will be the purchase date + 2 Years
If they only give you the VW Approved Used Warranty it will be purchase date + 1 Year

Thats how it works at Audi :)

If you give me your Chassis or Reg i might be able to check at work for you to see what warranty it is showing,it might just not of been put onto the system yet what with admin paperwork and other things.

And just wait and see how they manipulate the small print on an approved used warranty to avoid a claim.

ive already had new parts for bits n bobs. Got a few interior rattles and they've ordered 2 new doors cards and dsg gearstick to eliminate the noises..... I think they are an awesome dealership personally (Heritage VW Dorchester)

They aren't the quickest in updating their systems. It took them 9 months to update on the wife's Mk5 when that was extended into year 4.

Yes - as per r32tev's post above, I have used the same dealership and have found them to be pretty good overall.
