Title: Goodyear eagle F1 replacement? What are they called now?
Post by: Dan.B on 26 January 2014, 23:05
Hi Guys,

I currently run 4x Bridgestone RE050A but two of them are now knackered due to a pot hole!

I've searched on here for the best tyre and most people have said Goodyear eagle F1. This tyre isn't available anymore so what has replaced it?

I work in the trade so have a long list of makes/models to choose from but want a decent tyre that isn't as noisy as the Bridgestone!

Thanks in advance!

P.s I drive a GTD on 18" Monzas.

Ditto the above

I had 15k out of them. Covered just over 10k with the Goodyears and only got 3mm left

I'll be going back to the Vreds. Camskill have them for £82 per corner at the moment

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 is the replacement.  This might help:

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2013-Sport-Auto-Max-Performance-Summer-Tyre-Test.htm

I've got Continental sport contact 5p's and rate them highly.  Just about to replace fronts at 3mm and got 13k miles out of them.

Think that's about what I paid, the wet grip is on another level and the tread pattern looks cool :) not that you can see it when driving ha

In terms of performance I couldn't tell any difference between the two brands apart from the price

I couldn't find the Vreds through my work.

Nothing wrong with the Goodyear F1 though especially at £69 a tyre :-)

Omg I've just ordered a set of F1's coming in Friday, I thought I got a good deal @ 99 quid each fitted.  £69 is a right steal

99 quid per tire? you must think christmas came early. price down here is about 200 quid each and that's a bargain

dead serious mate. i have to get a loan every time i change tires... don't know why such a difference in price, i'd think transport costs plus obviously much less choices here in terms of sellers than in the uk

Thank god you've got 18" wheels. It's not far off that price here for 19's.  I've just forked out £187 (inc fitting) for 1 new conti contact sport 5p   I'm dreading it when I have to replace both the rears.

Hate to think what they would cost where you are

How are the prices varying so much? Where are you guys looking at getting these tyres from?

Not F1's but conti 5p's and 19's, but got mine from blackcircles.com. When comparing website prices, found big variances, sometimes as much as £60 a corner difference.  Black circles and Camskill seem to offer best prices from what I could see.

Its also nearly time fir me to buy some new shoes for my car, I think im gonna go for the Eagle F1's as ive not read a bad comment about them, but whats the difference between the GS-D3 and the Asymmetric 2

The GS looks more sporty but looks to be nearly twice the price
