Title: Few subtle modifications to my Pirelli Gti.
Post by: StevenAlan on 26 January 2014, 19:27
Hi. I'm new here and new to the whole VW scene with my first car being a Gti Pirelli edition. Pick her up on Tuesday.

Now ill be looking to make a few changes...

Lowering her. What would be the best?
Intake?
Remap?

Any recommendation's would be appreciated. Thanks

With regards to intake and re-map, I would recommend a panel filter in your air box, get a GFB DV+ upgrade for your turbo and a down pipe and sports cat fitted, this should net you anywhere between 30-40% power increase without being obvious to the untrained eye.

Lowering, well, coilovers really, but also consider bigger brakes up front if you're upping your power. Golf R32 (a.k.a. 345x30mm) front brakes can be bought for as little as £300 but you will appreciate every penny.

Welcome aboard

I have made similar upgrades to my Edition 30 ( same engine and larger Turbo as Pirelli )

Revo - Stage 1
Tarox Drilled and Grooved Discs
Yellow Stuff Pads
Braided brake lines
Forge DV
Performance Air Filter

I think that lot was about a grand but completely changed the car.

The REVO remap changed the cars charachter completely. Now very smooth and absolutely hysterical mid range. Well worth doing.

Planning a High pressure Fuel Pump, Cold Air Intake and De Cat Exhaust very soon.

I won't be lowering as I want the OEM look.

Also won't be going to Stage 2. Its quick enough already at 305bhp ( estimated )

Hope this helps.

Hey thanks for the reply's guys. All taken on board. I think what's mentioned above sound good to me and ill probably put the lowering on hold for a while.

Will I see much difference in insurance once I mention the mods?

And I am still to pick her up  Saturday morning now!! Can't wait
