Title: Coolant Loss
Post by: Chief1337 on 26 January 2014, 14:47
Hi All,

I've done around 2000 Miles in the GTi now and absolutely loving it. I have noticed however, a small (1 'star/lines' worth) of coolant loss. Is this usual? Have topped up with some G12++.

Regards,

Chief

My coolant level seems to vary quite a bit based on temp and its currently sitting at the low level. My Scirocco used to do the same thing and was normally topped up at each service...

normal for new car... there is always a tiny amount of air left in the system, over time this finds it way into the expansion tank....
nothing to worry about.... 100% of cars i've seen when i worked at europcar a few years ago had this 'issue'....

g12++ is not really for mk7 golfs anymore officially, now it's called g13.... small amount won't make any difference though since they are mixable...

Keep an eye on it as water-pump issue was common with new Mk6 GiT's. Mine had to replaced within a year under warranty
