Its cold in my golf.
When i put the heater slide to hot i get hot air for a bit, then it goes cold after a short while.
If i put it back to cold again for a few minutes then slide it over to hot again the same thing happens.
Why is this? I need hot air, esp for the winter!

sounds like the water isnt circulating properly there should be 2 valves maybe ones blocked or had it. you can spot under the bonnet as there the only pipes going into the bulkhead of the car there are 2 valves and 1 small pipe that goes between them.

Can't help I'm afraid mate, but I can sympathise.
The heater matrix in my last golf didn't work the whole time I had it.... a year and a half! 2 winters.
It got so cold in there that the windscreen froze on the inside every morning.
It was harsh and gross, coz it used to get so condensated (and very occasionally I resorted to anti-freeze!)
Hope you get it sorted, I'm sure you will, surely there can't be anyone out there who would put up with it for as long as me???

lol how you went 2 years without a heater i have no clue id go mad if i didnt have heat :S its not hard to change the valves or the matrix can seem a nightmare but its actually really simple can be done in a few hours.

Have you checked your coolant level? Maybe there just insnt enough water to circulate properly. Or try flushing the whole system to clear any gunk in the pipes.
