Title: BW7 Club
Post by: Mark V GTD on 25 January 2014, 11:23
Having started this thread and then realised that I am actually BW8 - I will wish all the BW7 people good luck and enjoy their cars (now slopes off to start the BW8 Club!).

Me too. My dealer thinks mid March delivery will be possible.

I've been told that my GTD is scheduled for build week 7 w/c 10/02 not 17/02.

Can anyone confirm, does build week 7 start 10/02 or 17/02 ??

You have me worried now Matt - maybe I am build week 8!  There must be somewhere that explains this...

I'll take your place Mark V GTD. Finally got a confirmed build week after ordering on the 10/10. My dealer said to expect it for the 3rd week in March. So looks like Ill have waited just over 6 months for it.

Here's an extract from an email from my dealer:
"I checked the system this morning and good news your car has a confirmed build week of 7 which means it goes into build 3rd week of February"
Title: Re: BW7 Club
Post by: Mark V GTD on 27 January 2014, 08:56
This should not be this confusing!  Build week 7 is really the second week in February (commencing Sunday 9th)!

I've been given my tracker order number today and it confirms what you've written (I'm BW7 and 9/2 is the start day).
Not long now :D

Always believe dealer as they can get live updates, never listen to the tracker! I believe they have got ongoing issues with the online tracker!

My dealer phoned me at the weekend and said to expect the car for the second week in March.  That will be nice if it happens but Im not holding my breath.

That sounds about right to me.... I'm BW8 and expecting delivery week 3 in March.

Sounds promising then.  Not too long to wait now.

  Just been confirmed that the build week for my car has slipped by 2 weeks to w/c 23/2.  Apparently according to my dealer all GTD/GTI builds have been affected and have been pushed back 2 weeks.

So I'm off to find the BW 9 club.

Post by: Mark V GTD on 07 February 2014, 12:50
Matt - did you have a confirmed build week (showing on the VW tracker)?

If so - what does it show now?
Title: Re: BW7 Club
Post by: MattCupra on 07 February 2014, 13:14
Dealer gave me verbal confirmation about 4 weeks ago of w/c 09/02 but the tracker didn't show a confirmed build week until about a week ago and it showed w/c 23/02.

Title: Re: BW7 Club
Post by: Jthgti on 07 February 2014, 13:19
I suspect that the 2 week slippage was true for unconfirmed orders (I was initially given BW5 a few months back), but once it's been confirmed it won't slip - mine is still confirmed BW7 on the tracker.

I hope that's true anyway - roll on the build next week!!

Matt - thats not a slippage - until you have a confirmed buld week you have no build week. The dealer was just guessing (they all do) - but in reality they have no more control of or insight in to the factory scheduling in Germany than I do!

Trying to roughly estimate my build week, how soon after you ordered the car did you get a build week?

You should get an order number from you dealer within a couple of weeks (you can then put this in the VW Order Tracker to see the current status) - they should also have a rough estimate of the build week.

http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/track-my-order

It is usually confirmed about 3 or 4 weeks before it's built - and should show as 'confirmed' with build week shown on the order tracker.

Yeah I have the tracker number, it just says that the order is with the factory. Just wondering when it changes to Confirmed Build Week from the date you ordered it? I ordered mine on the 3rd of January.

Mine was about 4 weeks but that was for a GTI. GTD might be a bit longer. Don't know what you have ordered
Title: Re: BW7 Club
Post by: jonny_lhoiry on 08 February 2014, 21:15
Ordered a standard GTD

Post by: TigerERA004 on 08 February 2014, 23:42
Mine was "With the Factory" for 3+ months. I beleive the build date is confirmed when all the parts are ordered and confirmed 3 - 4 weeks before the build week

This is the week our cars should be built but my tracker is still saying "build week confirmed" and not "build in progress".  Hopefully the tracker is wrong.  Anyone elses moved?

Mines still says BW confirmed though I think that is normal. The tracker skips steps sometimes and may stay on BW confirmed then jump to in transit later. At least that's what I've read on here.

Nope - mine's still on 'Build Week Confirmed'. Looking at previous threads, doesn't seem to be updated until later in the build week (if at all - some people's orders moved straight to 'in transit').

I must resist the urge to check the tracker until later in the week!
Title: Re: BW7 Club
Post by: marting on 10 February 2014, 14:05
Ok, thanks.  Think Ill do the same and keep off of the tracker until later in the week.  Ive been quite good so far and not really bothered with it, so I must revert to leaving it alone.

I've just checked the tracker site this morning. It says 'On average it takes 3 weeks for this model to reach your local Volkswagen Retailer'.
I thought that last week it said 'on average 4 weeks'.
Next week will it say '2 weeks'? or have they just improved the average shipping time?
Title: Re: BW7 Club
Post by: marting on 17 February 2014, 12:03
Yes, last week it did say 4 weeks.  Just checked and mine now says 3 weeks.  Not sure if they do a weekly count down though.
Title: Re: BW7 Club
Post by: Mark V GTD on 17 February 2014, 22:56
Yes they do - the problem is (as usual) poor set up of the Tracker site. In this case its the wording - what it should actually say is:

"It takes an average of x weeks from this point for this model to reach your dealer".

Cheers for the reply, although it's not what I wanted to read...
I've agreed to give my current car to it's new owner on 7th March, and this is at least a week before the GTI will be with me. Grrrrr

I have been in this situation twice now. Both times the dealer has put me in car to keep me going until my new one arrives.. Speak to them.

My daily driver went to it's new owner today. it was on Winter tyres. As soon as it went we had a hailstorm.
I have to use my track car (running Yokohama A048 tyres) until the new car turns up.
The GTI was due at the dealer yesterday, however it's still not there! This means I can't pick it up on Sunday as the dealer can't turn it around in that time even if it gets to them tomorrow.
As Jack Bauer would say, "DAMN IT".

Well done v5ade I am trying to get mine for Saturday, mind you I had an op this morning and can't drive until Saturday, so £50 of vouchers from VW to apologise for the delay that arrived today are some compensation for not having it waiting on the drive. Hope you enjoy it.

Ive just had a call from my dealer saying that my car has been missed off of the boat and now Im looking at a collection date of 17th March.     Im bloody angry but, I suppose, whats an extra weeks wait on top of the 6 months Ive had to endure already.
Title: Re: BW7 Club
Post by: marting on 07 March 2014, 11:26
Had a call from my dealer to tell me my car had finally arrived in the UK yesterday. This is after it was not on the boat I was told it was going to be on and sitting in Emden for 19 days (I was told that it should be there for a max of 10).  In the end I phoned VW UK and had to listen to a long list of excuses as to why it was delayed.  My favourite was "you dont want it on the bottom of the sea because of the weather."  The phone call was worth it as it was on a boat the next day. So, Ive been told to expect it ready for collection in just over a weeks time. Finally the end is in sight.

Post by: marting on 19 March 2014, 10:37
Finally picked the car up last night after being f**ked about for so long.  Since being built it was left at Emden for 19 days and Sheerness for 10.  I couldnt get a straight answer out of anybody as to why this was the case.  VWUK even had the balls to tell me I would appreciate it more as Id to wait for it.  So all in all it took 6 months and 8 days from me placing the order to picking it up.  Looking forward to finally being able to drive it.

Finally finished running it in this morning so it was play time on the way home  well worth the wait and need to be very careful watching the speed it goes from fast to silly in the blink of the eye, and I love it!
