Been offered a new job and part of the package is a car.
I've narrowed down my list to 6 now. Initially had 1 series BMW on here as was cheap, but then I remebered I don't like the offset pedals and clunky gearbox, which leaves the below.
I can't decide if I want Audi refinement or Seat FR power? Any thoughts on these cars?
Car MPG Ins Grp BHP Monthly cost 0-60
Leon Diesel Sport Coupe 2.0 Tdi Se 3dr [Technology Pack] 68.9 21 150 £37.05 8.3s
Leon Diesel Sport Coupe 2.0 Tdi Fr 3dr [Technology Pack] 68.9 22 150 £62.32 8.3s
A3 Diesel Hatchback 1.6 Tdi Se 3dr 74.3 16 105 £63.12 10.7s
Leon Diesel Sport Coupe 2.0 Tdi 184 Fr 3dr [Technology Pack] 67.3 27 184 £78.17 7.4s
A3 Diesel Hatchback 1.6 Tdi Sport 3dr 74.3 15 105 £84.24 10.7s

if your going to keep the golf/what ever car you currently own. i.e this company car will be a second car id pick the audi.
gti for the weekend and when you want a blast.
nice audi to drive for during the week on those long boring drives to work.

The latest generation of VAG vehicles use even more platform sharing than the last, so they look similar inside and out from the pictures I've seen. On previous generations you could see different designs in interior, with this generation they all look the same inside and out.
Isn't the Aldi a bit cliche?
I would select the Seat 2.0 TDI with the 184 ps as you get the most powerful 2.0 TDI engine with the technology pack which doesn't appear on the Aldi list below. Can you add options?
Head over to the MK7 section for more info on the GTD which has the same 184 ps engine.

Keeping my Mk2 as a summer/weekender. So when I want a smile i can still get that out.
I can add extras if I want too, but this obviously puts the price up. Whilst the new job is a pay rise too, I don't want to blow it all on a car I won't own.
SEAT have the technology pack on offer at the moment so it's free. So you get everything bundled in. Plus the FR would stand out in the car park next to the audi's & beemers.
But I still feel the audi does have a bit of a classier look.
The main downside with the audi is that the cheapest looks quite slow on paper.

Hi,
I owned the Seat Ibiza 1.6TDi.
While it was a lovely car and fairly nippy being only 105bhp I always wanted more power.
And while Seat and VW share a lot, they don't share the same quality in their interiors.
I'm a company rep, drive a company car doing a lot of miles up and down Scotland, I would always recommend a larger engine. You'll miss it if you don't.
To may Audi rep cars, be different, all my colleagues drive black or silver i40's or CRV's, I chose a Tornado Red GTD, now there all jealous. All I had to do was spec Nav Pro and the car is perfect for my job :)
-
Going for the Seat will allow you to spec more options compared with a cooking model Aldi.
I cannot see much difference between a Leon and A3...

Best mpg figure, best reliabilty and comfort is what I would be thinking.
Are you paying your own private miles and claiming work miles back in expenses or some other sort of deal?
Got to think of your own pocket first over power as it does not matter much you have when you are stuck on the M6 or M25, saying that if you can get somewhere near 150ps it makes motorways much nicer
(Dont shoot me but Mazda do some cracking motorway hacks)
-
I'd have the quickest Leon or get a sporty A3 and stick a cheeky map on. Then razz the living daylights out of it if it was me!

Fecking around with a lease car is a can of worms.......
I stick the money in the bank and book the pool car if I need to go anywhere, Mk3 gets me to work and back and I pay a sh!t load less tax

Yeah pay my own pvt mileage and claim back business mileage.
Min 150 makes sense for motorways.
It'll be my first company car, don't want to be stuck with something for 4 years I'm bored of after 1.
-
Can you opt out and take the monthly allowance?
-
No can't opt out.
-
Claiming back mileage doesn't cover it.
Used to do that on my previous car but ended costing more as £0.45 don't cover you for wear & tear that's for sure.
I've got a company credit card that I use for fuel and the tax man knows it's for business & private mileage.
After my tax code changed I was paying around £130.00 per month in tax. I don't think anyone one could argue that £130 per month for a split new GTD 184ps Golf is too much.
I may not own the car, but I can rip the arse out it(if I want, but I won't, it's far to lovely) all my maintenance is covered, breakdown ,insurance and even the exhaust and tyres.

You will still get bored, and when some dick at work picks up his new lease 2 years before yours it will start to look sh!t
The 1.6 A3 feels pretty slow between the roundabouts and off the lights compared to the GTD, but on the motorway it is absolutely fine, its like a modern Mk3 but less rubish
Seat for me are great value but look tired a lot quicker
I bashed a brand new 2.0tdi bluemotion Touran across Switzerland and Germany before Christmas, think it was a 140ps.
It got about 65mpg along the bahn at around 80mph and went really quite well, horrible brown colour though
How many business miles do you get at the full rate? ours drops at 5k
-
Standard Rate is £0.45 per mile for the first 10,000 miles, then £0.25.

maybe to do with private mileage :undecided: I'm probably talking sh!t
