Title: How easy to remove seats?
Post by: John W on 23 January 2014, 20:23
Guys

How easy is it to remove all 4 seats from a MK3? Can someone talk me through it please?
Cheers.

dead easy....

fronts: locate the seat rails on the left and the right.... remove the plastic covers at the ends.
now look down the middle of the front seat (from the front), locate the square peg... it's spring loaded - compress it, then remove. seat should now come off if you push it back. that's the same procedure for both seats in front...
back even easier...

bottom cushions on back are just screwed down (torx screws i believe). top parts i have never removed but can't imagine it being difficult at all. most likely just bolted down as well...

The rear uprights aren't even bolted in. Simply fold them down where the two sections meet in the middle youll see two metsl clips. Prise both of these out with a flat screwdriver one at a time. Next go to each opposite corner and again with your flat screwdriver lever the hinge latch backwards over the seat pivot which will release the seat and raise slightly.  You csn then feed them out of the slots each side.
Once youve removed a mk3 interior you can do them again completely in about 15mins easily.
