Hi,
I have just received my new car and I specced high beam assist. I don't think it has been added as I have no option to turn it on in the car settings and when I go main beam it doesn't have the "A" next to the main beam symbol. Should it be like this? Should there be an option?
Thanks,
-
You turn it on by pressing the stalk away from you once whilst the lights are on - on the display (at the bottom) you should see a small high beam symbol with an A to indicate high beam is in auto mode.
Also there will be a small camera on the back of the rear view mirror

Re: camera
Have a look for something like this;

Thanks for your replies guys. I have been out again and it does appear to work! I do have the camera on the mirror. I do feel a little stupid now!
One question though. Should you be able to turn it on and off in the car lighting menu? The manual says you should.

As reported in post 2 - its turned off and on by use of the left stalk....

Yeah I understand that now. The manual says otherwise stating it can be done through the car setup on the touchscreen. This seems to be incorrect. The guy at the dealership didn't even know how it worked!

Hey,
Were you BW 48 too?
How are you getting on with the Adaptive chassis comtrol? I think its amazing. In comfort it rides better then my Mk6 Golf Match!
Loving it

To be fair - its not a common option so he may not have even seen a car with it fitted....

Hi yeah I was BW48 :-) I am loving the whole car and the adaptive chassis control is ace! :-) I usually leave it in comfort too and then sport when I want a little play! I am treating it gently though as it doesn't have many miles on the clock!

On the touch screen you can set 'high beam assist' or 'light assist' or 'dynamic light assist' - or whatever it's called - to on or off. It is activated by pushing the left stalk away for a couple of seconds.
A headlight symbol with and 'A' on it appears in the bit between the speedo and rev counter. It only works in excess of 60kph/40mph and outside of street-light areas (and only at night of course).
When it's on full beam the blue icon lights up. Although it doesn't have just full and dipped - it swings and winks and dives all over the place avoiding other cars...

Isn't that only dynamic light assist? I thought that wasn't in the UK spec and we just got the bog standard 'High beam on - High beam off'. I think it's a different headlight unit with integrated shutters.

Could well be you are right. Sorry for any confusion...

One observation I made is that it does not work if the light switch is not in Auto position....
If you have manually turned lights on pushing the lever forward won't activate high beam assist but go straight to full beam.
