Hi
There's a few thing wrong with it at the mo, nothing too seious but was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on some problems for me?.....
It needs a few revs when you start it up
It cuts out when you dip the clutch for the first few mins after its started
When its just sitting in traffic it revs too high. about 1.5k
The timing has been done recently so its not that. It's got a kent cam and someone asked me if its got a pulley too, I have no idea! It was on the car when I bought it.
Any suggestions much appreciated!
Thanks guys,

is it an 8v? if so i assume it'd be a digifant. sounds like somethings not quite right! you'll know if you've got a pulley by taking off the top cam belt cover (if its got one) and looking at it. if its standard it'll be one piece, if its a vernier it'll be two piece, normally ally and anodised a nice colour with a few bolts allowing you to advance or retard it.
on digifants things like this are often down to bad earths and other electrical problems rather than mechanical. check your earth on the gearbox for corrosion and clean it up, take your air inlet to the throttle body off and have a look at whats inside, it might be full of crap so get some carb cleaner and flush it out. check your rocker cover breather and the bung it sits in for any damage. and might be worth changing the blue temp sender at the front of the head between the 3rd and 4th spark plugs.
best iu can do at the moment!

Thanks joe
Will have a look for a pulley then.
Sorry, yes it is an 8valve, 1991.
Will check out what you've reccommended.
Cheers. x

as joe says.... plus its worth while on digi to ensure the rubber seal round the idle screw isnt perished.. these caus probs as there is an air leak, check vacume hoses for splitting aswell and the main inlet hose from the afm these tend to crack also.
