Hi,
I went in today to inspect my new Gti at the dealers. WOW what a car! I set up all the driver profiles / radio channels etc whilst I was there too. I noticed the GTI key trim was missing. The dealer knew nothing about these, and had never heard of them etc etc. I believe they are ordering them in, although they should have been supplied with in the car and fitted during the PDI.
One question, I connected my iphone and all works well, except the list of names in the phone book, as displayed on the head unit is in Sirname, firstname order, despite being in the Firstname, Sirname order on the iphone (and in all the iphone settings) Am I missing a setting somewhere to reverse these? In my Mk6 this can be swapped via the phone settings mode displayed on the instrument cluster. I could not see any similar setting one the head unit under phone, settings etc.
Also, I know I should read the manual, but I do not have it yet! What is the switch overhead that shows the symbol of a door opening on it? The others are passenger map reading light, Lights on and read lights on. I am wondering what the 4th switch is?
Many thanks everyone, roll on tomorrow

Hi mate,
you can change the order in which the names are displayed in the Phone Configuration menu on the CMS. I had the same issue when I bought time, drove me nuts
Enjoy the car, its epic.

Hi, Many thanks. The only option I could find was reverse number order. Is that it? Any idea what the switch is too?
Many thanks :)

I had to do this myself today as I got a new phone and had to re-pair. There's definitely an option in the car's Bluetooth / phone settings for displaying your contacts as first name or surname first.

Gti key trims were missing on mine, too. Found them in a little bag in the glovebox. Worth a look.

Get back in touch with your dealer as the fobs are on the PDI list.

Picked my gtd up yesterday, just getting used to all the functions/gadgets. I've paired my iphone through bluetooth but was just wondering whether it displays the phonebook contacts on the dashboard/instrument display or just on the infotainment screen,I know you can view your call history on there.

It appears to be just the infotainment screen, which is the cars only weakness so far. On my Mk6 it was so easy to call a number up on the instrument display without taking your eyes off the road for long. On the infotainment screen it seems a little to difficult whilst driving.
Apart from that what do you make of the car? I think it is fantastic

To be honest I thought it was me that was doing something wrong, just doesn't make sense not to be able to scroll through my contact list on the instrument cluster, maybe I need to 'one bell' everyone in my phonebook so they appear in my call records!
Only done 140 miles in the gtd up to now but i'm loving it so far, the last 2 golfs I had were a mk1 and a mk2 over 20 years ago so it's a giant leep forward for me!
