it may be better to try gsf as it would be easier to return if its faulty or does not fit

All 3 of my engines (2no. abf and one diesel) did not have any gasket there.
Ally bracket/housing straight to ally block.
For my own piece of mind I did put a smear of silicon on it.
-
Only seal I have used in that expanded view is 19
-
i don't remember there being 1 tbh but a lot of work for a leak if i dont put one on.
-
As I said none of the 3 engines had a gasket and there were no leaks!
-
It should have a gasket between block and housing, might be worth fitting a new exchanger as well at this stage.
-
i have a good used one from last engine has no leaks and im replacing both seals to ensure no leaks as well.
-
The gasket has been present on all the VW/Audi passenger and industrial engines I have worked on That use the same housing and should be a single layer (possibly stainless) spring steel one. Because it usually sticks to the block not the housing it can be missed.
The only reason I can see a gasket is needed is due to the possibility of the housing warping and not sealing against the steel block.

Spot on, only real reason it is needed tbh.
-
When i removed my housing last nigh it had a gasket on it .now replaced no leaks

I should have these gaskets in stock by the weekend
(if anyone needs one, elring brand, price t.b.c)
