Been having problems with my headlights recently. I would switch headlights on and only sidelights would come on. Switch to main beam and main beam on headlights would come on and no dipped and spots wouldn't work. I'd had a wiring loom fitted a few months back that I bought off that auction site and all was working well. I'm not much into electricary so got a vehicle electrician to come and have a look. He'd identified a few of problems:
1. Relays not up to job.
2. Earth wire not thick enough for lights wired into loom.
3. Where loom had been fitted was getting wet and so wires were corroding.
He has now fitted a new loom and and relay system. I've now got a 3 relay block, 1 for dipped and side, 1 for main on headlights and 1 for spots. Relays are plug in type without having to disconnect wires and each relay has it's own fuze. Now a happy driver. Don't have to worry if I'm going to be out in the dark or not anymore      :smug:

annoying that you had to have all that done to a loom that was supposed to be fit for purpose
so who recommends one they have bought or made ? or a diagram so i can copy it

My mate bought one from eBay. It was a pretty looking crap bit of kit. Had like gold plated connectors and only 1 relay to power all the lights so your pretty screwed if it fails. Expensive and nice looking but I d rather have the messy one I made with 3 relays and fuses.

He did explain the 2 realy system is fine if you don't have spots but as mine is 16v with spots he said it just wasn't up to the job.

I made my own 6 relay system, one per dip beam 2 for full beam and the last 2 are wired to keep my dip beam on with full beam and make my bottom fogs light up with the full beam, have trouble keeping water off it tho

Won't that make the H4 bulbs too hot seeing as both filaments will be lit?
