Even after fitting a new bee sting and testing a new head unit I still can't pick up radio signals. The earth at aerial end is perfect and the signal seems to be intermediate which makes me think it's earthing bad at the head unit end. What part of the head unit is used for the earth and how can I go about getting a permanent clear signal?

Is your beesting amplified?
-
Yes but it's made no difference to the signal. Sow times I can drive to work and get great signal all the way there. Then nothing will change and I won't be able to get a single station on the trip home.

This may sound odd, but is the plug at the radio end the same one that leads to the bee sting? ie is there an old coax thats lurking behind the dash doing nothing!

When i changed the bee sting i made sure to trace the aerial back. Did find a coax doing nothing. But not using that. If i wiggle the head unit the signal changes.

The aerial plugs not pushed in properly. TBH all you need is the centre connection and a short piece of cable and you get full signal on pretty much anything
