I have still got the standard inter cooler on my stage 2 agu (237bhp) now will this cause me any issues I would like to stay side mount if at all possible I don't want pipework out of the front bumper as I'm trying to go for a clean sleeper look anyone got any suggestions as when summer comes is when I will have any issues with the std side mount
-
wownt have any issues with it, jsut wownt be running its full potental.
fmic would give you more horsies.
if you really want to stick with smic then get a larger one.
however if you buy the right kit, you can fit the grills etc back in so cant see the fmic.
-
I'm amazed that you're running 237bhp with the standard one tbh, when were you last on the rollers? In summer expect to see very quick heat soak without a fmic.
In terms of hidden front mounts, mine is from only charged dubs and is completely stealth. I'll dig out a picture later.
-
Rollers was winter time that's what I was wondering about summer I would love a stealthy front mount but as I say the only thing is I want to look inconspicuous as the car is only lightly modded on the outside don't get me wrong they do make a car look mean but just not my style

Mine is completely hidden:

I sprayed it matte black as well so it can't be seen at all:

It's this kit here (my car is the one shown in the pics):

did you fit it yourself ? would you recomend the cooler ?
i wanna get a fmic when i get my tax return but dont want one that sticks out or means bumper has to be cut down
-
The kit was fitted at OCD as they used my car to develop it. You still have to trim the rear of the bumper as you do with all fmic's, this cannot be seen from the front though.
The core is similar to the THS one so is very good.
-
I've got the THS cooler on mine, very similar to Doms

That is exactly what I'm after cheers fellas did you need anything other than what's in that kit so I can draw up a shopping list
-
Nope, just a means of cutting the crash bar a little
-
That's not a problem was there any bumper trimming involved with that kit
I had a lower number in my head in regards to what I wanted to pay but the car is more important than the missus so no more shoes for the next month or so lol
Did you notice an improvement after fitting
sorry for the questions but want to get everything just right
-
Yeah, some trimming to the rear of the bumper and the centre and o/s vents. As long as you're careful with a dremel you'll be fine, it might even be worth picking up a bumper from a scrappy to practice on first. Make it fit then cut the real one.
It can be done for less by fitting a wellycooler but you'll end up with pipes hanging out of your vents. Like you I wanted mine to be completely hidden which is why I opted for this kit.
You'll certainly notice an improvement in the summer :afro:
-
Thanks a lot for the help I really don't want pipes hanging out and yours looks AWESOME will deffo be stealing your idea of spraying it all Matt black
-
Wazzer....awww my old THS! haha. Miss that cooler.
SMIC at 237bhp will be terrible...you will get about 5seconds worth of efficient cooling before it cant keep up and you have inlet temps into the 40-50c's. Then timing pull and loose power.
Dare bet it feels a lot slower after a good boost in a high gear.
-
Exactly that it's so noticeable my mate has an r32 and when we get out on the motorway I can outpull him in third the first time but after that I can't keep up you can physically feel the power loss! I need to invest some cash gonna have to be in a month or 2 cos Christmas is a bummer when ur self employed
