Title: squealing like a pig
Post by: GolfGL on 11 January 2014, 21:17
Hi my golf is squealing like a pig in damp and wet conditions. Whilst its squealing my lights dim and sometimes power seems like its flicked off momentarily. Once warmed up after 5mins its completely fine. Does this sound like the alternator belt or something else?

cheers
Adam

Sounds like a strong likelihood the alternator belt is loose, as said tighten or replace

Just change it along with the pas belt, not a big job and about a score all in.
Tension is set by sprung alternator mount, so non adjustable only pas belt has manual adjust and this has to come off first to get to the aux belt
