Title: idle speed stabilisation valve

Hi all, new here, I'm running a bog standard unmolested mk 2 Gti on 150000 miles. i have a slight problem that i have traced to the idle stabilisation valve,  my question is, can i run without it with both pipes blanked off?  can these valves be cleaned? or is it worth buying new?

Clean it first.  Remove the valve and squirt some carb cleaner down both holes until there is not debris coming out.  Dry off and re-install.
