Title: dsg update
Post by: r32tev on 10 January 2014, 14:33
Had my dsg software updated yesterday as the car was a bit jerky and I found that in slow crawling traffic when coming to a stop from about 2mph it would still continue to engage the clutch quite heavily and I had to almost force it into neutral !!

Anyway the update was done yesterday and the difference is incredible. Drives much, much smoother and changes a little bit faster. Feels a lot more intelligent now !!

If you have DSG its definately worth checking if your car has had this update or not. ( i expect everyone has and im just a bit behind)

How do you know if your dsg is up to date or not?

Also interested in this.  Any info on the software update, date, number, ref etc?

From reading in another forum, it seems that when your car goes in for service and they run your VIN number, it will come up with any updates that apply to your car and they should do it.  I would still make a point of asking about it though.

I have a feeling that unless it is safety related they won't automatically apply updates. I have asked several times about DSG 7 speed updates for our Polo to which I have been told there are no updates,  so just have to accept their word for it.

Hi Guys,

As far as I know, they don't update the software when the car is serviced as it isn't anything to do with safety.

All I did was complain about the box feeling jerky in traffic and also trying to engage the clutch too much at standstill. My car is still in warranty.

I also told them that I knew there was a TSB for the dsg software to be updated which I have a copy of but not sure how to put a PDF on here

You could probably go into a dealership and take the document with you to keep things simple and just say I want this applied to my car.

Definetely worth it if you feel like your box is quite jerky and you feel like you need to put it into N alot in traffic.
