Title: Exhaust grumbling
Post by: mullermn on 09 January 2014, 15:22
It's been a good long time since I drove the demo GTI but I'm fairly sure it was making some satisfying grumbly popping noises from the exhaust occasionally. I've not noticed any of that from my car, was I just imagining it? If not, what causes it and what am I not doing?

the GTD makes an wesome grumbly (and almost popping) noise when being, erm... hammered/pushed/used :) - but that might just be the diesel crying :)

Up shifting under hard acceleration makes the exhaust pop. You can barely hear it in the drivers seat. People in the back always comment on it.

Fold ya back seats down for more exhaust noise, or at least the middle bit

MrSavage has a DSG, they do this

I am yet to hear of a manual making any 'other' noises either on overrun or upshift

(and would love to put a proper exhaust on mine to achieve such fruityness!)

The manual cars will do it as well, provided you're aggressive enough.
