Title: Tappets (hydraulic lifters)
Post by: davidgtrr34 on 07 January 2014, 21:04
there is an very loud knocking noise coming from the head on cylinder 1.
Does anyone no can I replace 1 lifter or do I need to do all 20 at the same time.

Also has anyone used any of these. if so are they worth it.
I was thinking of getting the street/strip version

And you'll be able to insure a hugely modified car pushing more power?

Seriously though..have you given any thought to how you're going to get the power down?

if you spent £2000 and done the work yourself you could get it from 400 to 500bhp

Its fairly obvious its pie in the sky stuff, but...

OPs posts on forgetting bigger brakes, and not being able to insure a high powered motor. Probably means this sh!t shouldn't be entertained or encouraged.

Though I must admit I am curoius from a technical point of view what it would take to pull those figures.

Would the haldex even cope with that sort of power?

Know haldex can handle 400odd-500oddbhp (for how long before it fails in some way I have no idea)

Anything over 500odd if never seen in a mk4.

Also to the op. Enjoy trying to get 6-700bhp from it an 1800cc

Friend of mine has a 1800cc turbo engine car. For him to reach 700 bhp it has been board out to a 2.3 letre garret turbo and around 10+k of other work done to it....

I was looking at a 2.1 stroker kit but I think I might leave it at 500bhp cause some of the fellas on hear had some good points
